I like this line.. I take it we're the lesser codex zealots... Note I've never actually read the codex.. shame on me i guess. However I believe that Miranda in the new armor appearance does in fact look feminine, tough and pretty.

Are we looking at the same picture? She looks pretty, tough and feminine to me.

Edit: I'm struggling to put my thoughts on this in cohesive English.

Short answer: No, it's not especially feminine when you get past the fact that it is essentially a one-piece and will accentuate the feminine frame somewhat.

I'll elaborate on this tomorrow.

Yes, I want actual armor and toggable helmets for companions. I run a tight ship  and I like color coordination for my squaddies.

But what do I know? I'm just a "codex zealot" (first time I've heard this) with lesser tastes (IE: Logic and consistency )who objectifies women because I like the idea of unique armor over catsuits with heels.

People keep saying that armor does nothing against bullets. If that is true, then why do we have to strip away an armor bar before damaging an enemy's health? Let's have some consistency at least.

Very few enemies even have an armor bar, notice all the guys with armor (the mercs)  don't have an armor bar.

And about hostile enviroments? In vacuum you are ****ed without this armor. And armor actualy can protect in fight thanks to kinetic barriers that are coming from the armor. So no armor, no kinetic barriers. No kinetic barriers...absolutely no protection. So its perfectly fine when you go on dangerous mission without any protection?
C´mon...

So when going on mission we are going to rely on absence of any enemy except those with guns. On alien worlds...

So astronauts wear armor? They wear suits but not armor. We have seen from Joker to ship repairs that fields, barriers or what not can keep the void at bay. You don't need armor to do that and unless your armor is sealed in ways that the armor doesn't appear to be it won't do jack vs the void anyways.

Again, we don't prep our soliders fo the odds that some spear wielding savage comes at them currently so why would you make that assumption in ME2's world. The ONLY thing that attacks that way are Varren which since dogs could also attack our soliders we are grossly negligent in protecting against,

As long as a shield generator can be segragated from an armored suit, then there's really nothing armor has to buy you other than some reflexive need to swarth your PC in some sort of armor.

Astronauts are explorers, not soldiers. We don't have space marines and we don't have starships. (just spaceships)

Just FYI, marines wear armor. Today's marines. Body armor. And helmets. Why? Because they do work and they do save lives. Relying on just one thing (kinetic barriers) and not have extra protection sounds stupid.

Nope. The squadmates should look interesting and iconic, not dull and generic.

Armor can look interesting and iconic.

True (Shepard's N7 armour definitely qualifies as iconic), but not when armour betrays the characterisation of a squad mate; "proper armour" would not have suited Thane, Jack or Samara. Nor Miranda for that matter, but i've already been over how her new alternate attire is an insult to women.

That's because people who can't wear power armor don't suit a work of science fiction with a space soldier protagonist.

You want interesting and iconic cleavages - go play a fantasy game, prefereably a Japanese one.

***

I support fully armored troopers in ME3, who can have their "individualities" back only  when off-mission.

Interesting. Transfering 1 000 000 000 credits in support of the anti-fantasy war effort.

...3rd on being baffled.

My snark detector broke yesterday.

Apparently being a sex object isn't insulting but appearing armored is....

...

........

It was sarcasm.

Val Seleznyov is the one who was complaining that Miranda's new DLC armor is an insult to women.

Yes, this was one thing I really missed from ME1, my squad wearing armor and helmets, not catsuits and HIGHHEEELS for crying out loud! I loved ME2, but it annoyed me to look over and see people running around in high heels while they're fighting for their lives. Somebody said everyone in armor would be boring, but I disagree, to me it would add a nice touch of realism and help me get into it more. Plus, combat armor just looks awesome.

Definitely in favor of squad battle armor. There's something about having your team suited up that adds an extra edge to the game.

I bet it was just some retarded "focus-group" research, that made BioWare think boobs in space was a good idea.

A few people without any understanding what sci-fi is about said something about the characters needing more individuality and femininity, and the "codex zealots" present just didn't fully realize, what was happening, to say a strong "NO".

F*cking marketing.

I'm trying very hard to figure out why do female soldiers need to look feminine on a battlefield exactly?
does it somehow make them perform better? shoot better? makes their biotics hit harder?

I have no issue with sexy skintight outfits for ship wear but for the battlefield, come the heck on? Personally what I would love is standardized armor (with more or less ceramic plating, depending on the sort of armor the characters can wear - light, medium or heavy) for all characters that can then be personalized for all squad mates in various ways. you can make everyone match, or you could give each one a distinct color scheme.

normaly its incredibly easy for me to suspend my disbelief, but running around a ship in space that you're told has no working environmental controls, or better yet, running around toxic environments and NOT wearing some sort of protective suit? really really pushing it. I mean where exactly is all that necessary oxygen coming from when all they have is this tiny clear gas mask? how are they not freezing to death or something?

I don't think its sexist to have sexy characters wear sexy outfits.  but I do think its ridiculous to have your team go into planned battle wearing their civilian clothes.

This. Such simple stuff as different textures and insignia added on top of a standard mesh can personalize things greatly. Just look at the car pimping in the NFS series.

In SC2 an imperial general, a rebel commander, an escaped convict and all ordinary soldiers wear exactly the same model of power armor, yet it is so personalized on the main characters, that it is just as "iconic" for each of them, as Shepard's N7 armor in ME2 is said to be.

its just a game doesnt matter if its a story driven game or whatever your reason is, its a game set in the future no point to bring realism not even a small one to a game with aliens and killing machines
