I'm going through DAO again and I hear that Blood Mage is a good thing to have available for Morrigan, so I want to unlock it.
I know that I either have to play as a mage, get to redcliffe castle and do whatever happens there and enter the Fade to get it.
I also know that I could start awakening and get it.
My question is WHICH method is quicker. I don't ever play as a mage, so I am just wondering which would be faster.
PS - Also need to romance Alistair so could someone lead me in the direction on a thread of a fast way to do this as well? He's all thats necessary to complete the achievement for all companions.

I would look up HOW to unlock it in Awakening. I suspect it's a book, and if so that would be quicker. Just play through the opening as fast as you can, ignoring side quests and loot. When finished go buy it

Here it is...

Additionally, it can be unlocked in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening by purchasing the manual from the bartender at The Crown and Lion tavern in the City of Amaranthine.

I know how to unlock it, i'm just trying to find the quickest way so I don't have to spend forever playing a class I don't enjoy. If going through with it is quicker, I guess i'll have to do it, if I can more or less just start Awakening and buying it, then I'll definitely do that lol

If you were on the PC, there's a very fast way to unlock blood mage. But you're on the 360. Buying the book is the fastest option for you.

Alrighty then that is what I'll do. Does it matter which class I go into awakening to buy the book with? class that is, because I figure I'll have to do SOME fighting.

That's a good question. If nobody else knows I would just make a mage and be done with it. It's not a character you plan on using anyway, and mages are plenty powerful enough to get you through the opening.

Amaranthine is available after the opening mission in awakening and then you can buy the bloodmage book. That is the quickest way
just make a random character, go buy it for six gold and then go back to your original play

No!
Any class can bye the book (awakening) but only a mage can do the fade quest.

It would be A LOT faster to play the opening of Awakening, going to Amaranthine and buy the book (like...an hour) than going through a mage origin, ostagar, lothering and then redcliffe (a heck of a lot more than 1 hour)...and you can use any class you like. You are buying a book afterall. I got BM unlocked that way with my first import who was a DW warrior. I hate playing as a mage...wasn't until my 7th playthrough I actually completed the game as one.
