So if I make a combat rogue (not using stealth or anything sneaky like that), would it be better to use a sword and dagger, or just two daggers?

You should use daggers, as rogues can back stab.

Rogues can backstab with swords as well.

My personal opinion is that two daggers look and feel better on a rogue.

Technically, both really do work. If you focus heavily on dexterity, it's better to take daggers though as dexterity does not increase damage dealt with swords.

Whether you focus on dex or cunning, dual daggers are the best option. Speed wins out when it comes to backstab rogues. If you're focusing on strength your better off with a warrior. Then I'd be all for sword/dagger, or even sword/sword if you're so inclined.

High dex should carry on 2 daggers, if your dex is not so high and you have a decent amount of str then a sword and a dagger i guess

Yeah I'd say sword/dagger if that is your plan on attributes. The main reason to up strength over cunning on a backstab rogue would be so you can wield a longsword in the main hand anyway so you mine as well benefit from it, just make sure you keep momentum on once you get it. You'll need the speed boost for the main hand attacks.

Agreed, with momentum and decent strength and dex the sword/dagger combo is your friend. You can save the backstabs to give to Zevran or Lel if you take her down the melee route.

I personally use a DW Dagger Ninja Rogue,as I like to call them, now. (I used to use a warrior but I found out Rogue's pwn warrior!!!)

I put most of my atr. into Dex, Cunning 22, then put some into con. to make them hard to kill, then put some into strength. 22-30 and thus they become Ninja Rogue's of awesomness.

Every class owns the others when built right. Its really just about matching your playstyle.

I just finished as a rogue, i built the strength up because i wanted to wear cool looking armour (after playing as a mage) and so i used dual swords with the dual mastery and compensated the speed with the rogue ability that gives you haste (sorry my memory of ability names sucks) i found this set up worked very well and i did alot of damage

On these forums unless your doing 100 or more damage a hit, that dosnt qualify for 'Alot" of damage.
