What gives the Geth, the Quarians' creation, rights? They are machines which have mistakenly acquired sapience.

How does the original intention of the quarians matter? they may not have wanted to create intelligence but they did, now they have to deal with it. But instead of raising a well adjusted child, that grows up to be productive member of society they tried to kill it, majorly f*****g it up and turning it into an anti social sociopath.

How come the Quarians original intention doesn't matter? How come that because the Geth became sapient, which was a mistake, the Quarians have to change? It's their creation, they should be allowed to do what they want with it.

Again is a parent allowed to do what they want to their children?

1) Ever heard of abortion? (that isn't to say I believe in it)

abortion is an "interesting" topic for lack of a better word, as a lot of debate revolves around when is a fetus truly sentient. But im talking more about killing a child, one that is able to talk and knows the difference between life and death.

2) So people aren't allowed to fix their mistakes?

By infringing on the rights of others, no.

What gives the Geth, the Quarians' creation, rights? They are machines which have mistakenly acquired sapience.

who says the geth don't have the right to fight back?

That depends on your viewpoint. Also, sapience doesn't grant autonomy from the creator. Where does it say otherwise?

You are either an entity or you are not.  You are either a tool without any thought or will or sense of self or any degree of awareness, or you are.  This isn't about viewpoint.  Once you have sapience, you are by inherent virtue of that sapience possessing autonomy.

Once again, Where is that written?

You seem to not understand the meaning of the word "intrinsic."  I think I'm done here as this is just going to go in circles.  I suggest picking up a dictionary and a philosophy book or two so you can get down the basics.

Philosophy has no place here. That is invalid.

1) What does the face mean?
2) How are the Geth children? They were meant to be servants, nothing more.

...Are you seriously suggesting that just because someone created a life they get to do whatever they want with it?

How are the Geth "alive"? They are that aren't born with sapience.

Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such
as those connected with existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language.
It is distinguished from other ways of addressing such problems by its
critical, generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument.

The face was a gentle way of me thinking, "you're actually condoning genocide because it was a mistake" and from my point of view that's pretty messed up.

The children reference is because thats closest comparison i can think of for the geth. Sure they may not have been created with the intention of life, just like the parents didn't have sex to have a kid, but they both got what they got, yet you agree it's wrong to kill the child but the genocide of an entire species is ok?

they evolved into sapience. humans were once single celled creatures too, who eventually evolved into sapient organisms.

That's only if you believe in evolution.

I meant to say "How are the Geth alive? They aren't even born with sapience". Bad English on my part.

Once again, it's only genocide by our standards and morals. We don't know EXACTLY what theirs are like.

Genocide is specific word for the intentional destruction of an entire species/race, theres no standards. You can argue all you want about whether or not genocide is wrong/immoral, and thats perfectly valid.

I'm not saying that genocide is right by any means. I'm saying that it might not have been genocide by their standards.
