When that sort of comment is made, you can't stop people from entering and rebutting such nonsense.

As for the last one (Full of Wynne), I agree that one person in particular wouldn't let go and move on to the Abominable thread, but that was no reason to just call it quits. All fan threads are occasionally "invaded" by a non-fan who will try to stir things up.

At any rate, if Wynne fans want to make a fan thread out of this one, I'll be sure to stay out then.

Em...nope. I'm 37, and probably considered an elder by gamer age standards. What I don't like are sanctimonious, hypocritical tools trying to give me advice on things they know nothing about. If she limited her advice to things she might actually have a clue about (healing spells, knitting fuzzy blankets, book recommendations, quality beer appreciation) she might not be so irritating.

I actually liked the concept of having an old lady character in my party. First time I've ever seen it in a game. It's her hypocrisy, ignorance, and pushiness that irritate me and make me want to fireball her. However, you get more milage by irritating her back and making her journey with you as unpleasant as possible, than you do from killing her. So by the end of most of my playthroughs, she is alive and eager to get the hell away from me at the coronations.

I hate Wynne and I will always hate Wynne. Where her fans see her as some kind grandmother I see her as a preachy hypocritical hag who is an abomination. She calls it spirit, I call it demon, it's the same crap with a different name.

Wynne, one of my fav companions and actually she is one of the least neurotic persons in the game. She gives reliable advice and has a clear view for things in comparison. I like her and don't see what should be grandmotherly about her, she doesn't even look like one. Morrigan is more liked by many people and pretty much the opposite while she is actually the mad hag type with eccentric demeanor and crude opinions. Anyway, play and choose your companions the way you want, still I don't get what makes ppl think in certain ways.

I don't mind Morrigan's personality at all. I just get slightly annoyed that she loses approval everytime I'm nice to anyone.

Honestly If I wanted advice I would rather talk to sten than wynne I mean I disagree with sten on various things but he is the only companion where you don't have to kiss his ass for approval.

Wynne's preachy attitude never bothered me much - I'm used to it in Bioware games. Even her picking on my Warden's relationship did not bother me - in fact, I enjoyed it because you get the opportunity to be totally snarky and condescending in return. And I appreciated when she apologized afterwards. Not everyone is capable of admitting they're wrong like that. I really respected that.



What drove me absolutely crazy about Wynne was her "destiny" talk. It was supposed to be encouraging, I think. Sort of "get over yourself, stop whining,you got a job to do" thing. So understand the purpose of the talk. I also agreed on her on quite a few things. But when she said that attempting to change the course of desitny is always unwise, and we should just accept our fate, I wanted to kick her. Seriously. Telling a City Elf or a Castless Dwarf that they should just raise their hands in surrender and swallow all the crap that "fate" throws at them because fighting it would be wrong? So that elven women continue to be raped by bored nobles and castless are forced to be criminals and prostitutes because that was their "destiny"? No. Just no. I was so angry that I was not allowed to really argue the point with her, force her to reconsider at least parts of her philosophy or at least make her admit that what she said was caused by insensitivity born of ignorance and selfishness. Argh.



Still, she's a very good character. She just seriously gets on my nerves occasionally.

I like Wynne alot, good character with a good back ground, and extremely useful. Far more useful than either of the one handed warriors sten or Oghren.

Btw, it's interesting that for all the perceived differences and antagonism between Morrigan and Wynne, they share the same philosophy: be blunt, don't waste time sparing someone'sfeelings, don't tell comforting lies.

Is there much own personality left in Morrigan? She was planned by Flemeth to be her "soul vessel", you can clearly she what she intended raising Morrigan like that and what kind of personality that formed. I pity her a bit for what that made her, although Morrigan will scoff at that.

Basically, she says, "Don't fight your fate, it is unwise". That pretty much means elves and Castless dwarfes should just put up with their plight and do nothing. I understand that she was talking primarily about the Warden's reponsibilities, and I even agreed with her on that, but the whole "accepting fate" thing seems to be part of her general outlook on life. She should have taken into consideration who she was talking to (in my case it was a City Elf who definitely did not want to accept the fate of being some bored nobles' plaything). Also, Wynne reminded me of that merchant in Orzamarr who said that the Casteless are destined to be criminals, and nothing will ever vhange their destiny.

This is why I think she displayed her selfishness and ignorance in this conversation. She did not really know how tough elves and dwarves had it, otherwise I do not believe she would have said the things she did.

Ok, actually we have the same opinion and I agree that the seperation between the races and classes/casts is cruel. From what the game gives us I think it is not easy to say what compainions, in this case Wynne, think of certain things. In general the devs failed to give more depth or more insight into the characters. They brought this feature into the game and it is great to have interaction and conversation, but at some ends it just lacks and leaves too much open for interpretation.

Really? She told me the story about the Wardens of old riding into battle on Griffons.
