it could be a coincidence but i made DAOrigins.exe a large adress aware 32bit app, and for some reason 1 of 2 things happened for started the load time went down and the other thing that happened is that after playing for a bit it the load times did not go up thay stayed about the same (5-10 sec) has any one else tryed this yet?

edit: blast my spelling!

It just makes your windows read more than 3 GB ram. Its not a true fix for memory leaks. On retail 1.0 ver i have no long loading times and i have 2 GB ram.

But it would be nice to know, if people with 4GB+ ram have memory leaks or not

I have 4GB's, on Vista Ultimate 64bit edition. I have memory leaks, or what I assume to be memory leaks.

3gigs on a 32 bit machine and 4 gigs on a 64 bit one....thing is if its 32 bit there is a few more steps to do then just makeing the exe large adress aware...

i myself have 6gigs and after about an hour the load times would just keep growing and growing but ever since i did that at least for me it seemed to help alot

edit: after rereading what you put ray....it make the program use larger then 3gigs of ram not windows.....32bit programs are normaly caped at 1.5gigs of ram total with the large adress flag said 32bit program will use up to 3gigs on a 32bit machine and upto 4 gigs on a 64bit one

and i have seen dragon age upto 2.5 gigs of ram and it enjoyed it too Image IPB

I have 4 GB of RAM running Windows 7 Professional x64 and when I first start a play session I experience 5-10s load times. After playing for a few hours, these load times go up to over one minute, forcing me to restart the game every now and then to reclaim the memory.

Past the memory leaks, the game is very stable. I have only had a non-loading crash once, and three crashes while loading, and this is in about 80 hours of play, much of it on v1.00.

righto i guess i should of done that a bit ago then eh?

Now then as far as how i did it
I used the fallout3 one (seeing how that fixed it for my fo3 lol)

what i did is downloaded the program and made a backup copy of daorigins.exe
Then i made another copy to the folder i got from the link below and renamed it to fallout3.exe (was to lazy to change the .bat file)
then followed what the readme said

a) make a back up copy of 'Fallout 3.exe'.
B) put Fallout3.exe in the utility folder
c) double click 'START.BAT'
d) follow the instruction in the command window
e) once made 'large Address aware',

renamed it back to daorigins.exe then moved it back to the bin_ship folder makeing sure not to copy over the backup

If you have a 32 bit verson of windows there is a few more steps to do that are also in the readme, if you have a 64bit verson of windows your fine...

Link to the files themself...

a lot of the "memory leaks" are CPU affinity issues check the troublshooting FAQ for the fix here

Intel quad q8300...now im going to ask you nicely to return to your other posts and get off your high horse, i only asked if any one else has done this i did not need to be bombarded by you posting links to your other posts you spam them enough so that other may see im sure that people do look at them that you dont have to go into other posts and post links to it as well

hacking the game may have worked for you (and yes, that processor isn't one of the ones on my list) but telling people to hack the game is silly unless you plan on helping every one of them fix their problems when they occur... I link my posts because none of the things we do might break the game and force a reinstall

You change a file header to make the 32bit program know there is more then 1.5 gigs of ram it can use...wow if you ask me that sounds like a good thing you make it sound all negitive

and some one asked how i did it so i told i never told any one to do any thing

so im going to ask you again to please leave and try and get this post back on topic...

okay so let me get this straight. i use that program and make a copy to be safe if and when i screw this up. then after that i rename the file to fo3 or is the program gonna run it through a bunch of **** and thats what changes it. then i rename it dragonAO.exe and put it back in the bin_ship folder and im all set?

name it to fallout3.exe

ran the bat

push A to add

it will add the header

rename it back to DAOrigins.exe

put it back into your bin_ship

and tada all done :P

I'm unsure you should keep saying that as fact seeing as there is absolutely no documentation to back it up.
I'm not dismissing it but it can hardly be statement of fact when there is nothing to explain why that would be the problem let alone what it does to fix it.

that and changeing the cpu affinity dose nothing to help with memory leaks if there was any....

oh and incase any one is wondering yes you can still get online and upload things

No "memory" leak issue here. I have not had a crash or slow down in about 40 hours of play. Once in maybe ten loads it will take 20-30 seconds to load. Every other time it takes 5-10.

While I do not doubt the issues people describe, if it were a memory leak it would happen to everyone regardless of their setup.

I am running a Q9550 and 8Gb of ram.
