If you put a super AI (and EDI appears to indeed be a TRUE artificial replication of intelligence, not any of that dumb deaf and blind networked adding machine Geth junk) in a humanoid body you are creating a menace greater than the Reapers.

Perfect.
I imagine the first stage something like a Geth robot body but with a human looking holographic overlay.
I think it's a natural progression for the character of EDI.

Unshackled AI embodied in a super-advanced stealth frigate with heavy-cruiser level guns is already dangerous enough as it is. Despite the damage it can do however there is safety in the fact that a frigate cannot maintain, refuel, reload or most importantly REPLICATE itself. It lacks the necessary oppose-able thumbs (among other things.)

I fail to see how synthetic intelligence must needs be antithetical to organic intelligence. Being synthetic doesn't make you a threat; EXISTING makes you a *potential* threat, whether you're organic or synthetic. There's risk in any interaction, but somehow we are always blinded by fear when one of the involved parties is an artificial intelligence.
Is it that big a leap of faith to imagine that synthetic intelligence isn't innately hostile? Not to get sucked into the whole issue, but the geth are very much content to leave us alone as long as we leave them alone. I submit that the Reapers are dangerous not because they are an organized body of artificial intelligent beings, but because they have an agenda.

I think an amusing scene would be Joker trying to goad her into downloading herself into a mobile platform, and her responding with "why the **** would I want to do that?"

I think giving her a physical body would be way too drastic (the Normandy is her body), but I'd like to see them "upgrade" her digital avatar to either a head and face (possibly modeled after Tricia Helfer) or a full body like Cortana from Halo, as posted by snfonseka. Especially since by the end of the game, after Joker did the unshackling, EDI really transitioned from being an 'it' to being a 'she,' in a way. Even Joker started calling EDI 'her' instead of 'it.'
She develops really well as a character. That "I like seeing humans on their knees line" was hillarious.
If ME3 is going to be mostly ME2 squadmates she makes an interesting addition without actually being new.
She also brings alternative point of view , which is one of the things that made Legion so good in ME2. Also she bridges the organic/synthetic gap. She's already grasped humour , which Geth has not managed in 300 years.
I don't think anyone would mind if she were modeled on Tricia Helfer... although I prefer her non Battlestar hair colour.

Because it's overrated and cliche, and really, the whole idea of the Normandy having an AI was just stupid.Silmane wrote...

Not sure what you mean by overrated. But ME is all about cliches so I don't really see that as a negative.

Cliches make the world go around because they work and are cool. But she should not have that Cortana look.

She could sit on the console next to Joker.

I think that was just an example. Most of the people seem to want her modeled on her voice actress.(see above post)

but then I remembered Avina...
and as long as EDI stays with the same look as Avina there is really no logical argument against it....maybe you'd PREFER not to see her get a holographic AVINA type "body" but...within context of the Mass Effect Fictional Universe..there's no reason why she couldn't.
Again, as long as it's in the same style as AVINA...NOT Cortana (sp? don't care) or whatever other anime thing you want to post a picture of.

She's really not all that different from Cortana looks wise
EDI would actually be more like Cortana than she would Avina, just from what is shown in ME2. Cortana is definitely more human-like, but EDI is already showing signs of that.

I'd rather she didn't. It would make her less unique as a character. I like the fact that she is the Normandy, no more, no less. Also, I'm sure Joker can install some 'upgrades' to the helm to appease the Joker/EDI-mancers.
This.
Though if Bioware does give her a body I hope it's just an unsexy mobile platform, sort of like how the Geth upload themselves to robotic bodies. I will be disappoint if EDI shows up in ME3 as a hot chick in a body that looks almost or entirely human.

Conversely, Joker went from 'Mr. Moreau' to 'Jeff' with the unshakling, too. I blame Joker for her sense of humor.
