Ah yes, "Blue Women"

Posted Image

Even the people in the sci-fi story itself want all the women to be blue. And if they can't be blue, they "were" blue.

This also works in the Matrix, due to the blue tinting for the real world.

I don't know, the face would be creepy. EDI is supposed to be a machine. Her emotions are sythetic and inhuman. Even in her voice, there's a slight hint of emotion, but it's slight and it's clear that she's still just a machine. I think giving her a face would just be heading a bit too much into the unsettling end of the Uncanny Valley.

Lol, she is a machine though. So is Legion. In both cases, their voices are 'synthetic.' They could have been programmed to sound as sexy or commanding as needed.

Synthetic is academic. The question is whether she really is AI and whether she really has emotions, regardless of how her voice sounds.

I always imagined when the Reaper threat was neutralized, assuming you have Legion as a squadmate, that the EDI program would join the Geth. She is lonely, and the Geth would be the perfect place for her.

I don't think she should have a body, but more of a holographic video link that shows her face only. Obviously modeled after Tricia Helfer.

Now there's an idea.

No body, no disembodied head, just leave the floating ball alone. If they want to humanize EDI do so through dialogue and little quirks of the ship (EDI's in a bad mood locks down the elevator kind of thing). Besides given the more pressing concerns we're facing does it really make sense to waste resources on giving the ship AI a more human avatar?

This is actually a great idea.  A displeased EDI has the potential to be both hilarious and dangerous.

EDI is not limited in the way an organic is. If I go back to the Andromeda you have an AI that is also 3 aspects.
(father son and holy ghost for the religious folks out here, differnent aspects but the same thing).

So you would have EDI the ship AI. A more personable holographic AI (rather than the ball) which can appear anywhere on the ship. And an AI that downloads intself into a Geth type robot body, overlayed with the Hologram for a more "human" appearence.

EDI mobile (for want a better term) will probably go on away missions just like any other character.Your not really wasting anything because you are getting an additional squadmate from the deal, who already has a partly established backstory.

The only thing that worries me , is that Joker get's distracted and crashes into a sun or something when she pop's up..(see picture a few posts up)

I could see Joker building EDI a sexy body.

If EDI were to get a body she should not be romancable she should only be interested in Joker.

However:
I could see how this could work out in a TV show I did watch Andromedia and it worked quite well. However in a game there isn't alot of time for character development to make it work real well. IDK maybe they could do it but if they screwed up tthere would be hell to pay, so I don't think they will try.

This.

She seems quite "happy" with her new awareness and freedom.  To her, the Normandy is her body (the armor her skin, the drive core her heart, etc).  I don't see her desiring a bipedal humanoid body.

Yes she does seem "very happy" with new awareness and freedom. So much so that it would seem more likely she would want to experience more.   Like Data from the Star Trek series or the holographic doctor from the other one.  It just seems like a waste of time to do this now at the last minute though.

Makes a lot of sense. Not sure what you mean by last minute though ? ME3 is by no means imminent.

What i ment was that ME3 is the finale, and to see where or how EDI would change or evolve now seems like "last minute".  EDI is intreduced in ME2 and was shown evolving through interacting with Joker. But starting her out in ME3 with new design or upgrades just doesn't make sense to me. So watching as she evolves to the "Data" or "Holographic Doctor"  phase through ME3 storyline would be a "last minute" kind of deal.

I'm not sure I agree with that unless they are adding nothing new to ME3 in the way of squadmates. In EDI you have half the work done for you. She already has a personality, a history etc. Rather than starting from scratch with a completely unknown character.

We don't know when ME3 is going to start. Could be months or years. We dunno. Unless there is new info I dunno about.

I don't see how that would be a problem for EDI to be a holographic projection in ME3 I'm sure it would be a most welcome change. If they do give EDI A body I hope they use the original voice actress's likeness.
