Large, opaque, textured, elaborate and rendered circley frames were less cluttered than what they've changed it to?

No, With every newpiece of information I hear, I'm less inclined to bother with it, but in all honesty, mac or not, those screens are worse than Origins imo...

Eh?  You are waffling now?  You said in your previous post. "If these are 'new'...then decision to not buy DA2 has been justified already."

Are you buying it or not?

I think the thing that upsets me most in those pics is the completely non-functional armor the blight guys are wearing, I'm sorry but they might as well run around naked with all those holes in their armor, I mean seriously  THE AUXILLARY IS VULNERBLE WHAT'S THE POINT?  And their backs are bare, what if they got flanked by archers?:crying:

Sorry for the rage, I take my armor seriously.

Edit: Well, at least they have armor for their thighs. -_-

using logic on a game with an hp system? laughable

Okay, can it at least look pretty then? Because that armor makes me uncomfortable. And it's in the way you're thinking I assure you. :alien:

Yay, we get some colored armor this time! Other than different shades of washed out brown, beige and green.

I def agree! I hated playing with sad Hobo Warden. No Hobo Hawke for me!

Yes, it is. I like a playing screen clear of clutter. Many modern games violate this personal preference of mine.

I also think Bioware has a tendency to over correct. I'd be happy with a mod that utilized the circular portraits.

I don't care for the aesthetics of the new UI in general, but I especially hate how it would seem the bar has to be stretched the whole way across the screen since they've placed the potions on the right end. I really hope we can adjust the length of that like Origins. There isn't any reason to have it stretched like that when you only have a handful of abilities.

The action shots are interesting. I hope the Rock Wraith will change shapes a few times in mid combat, maybe to mix things up a bit. Fighting several of them when they just go from Pile of rubble - humanoid pile of rubble - back to regular pile, would get kind of boring.

I kind of wish we could see some forest fighting, or something different. A lot of our gameplay shots are from the Blightlands, in big empty areas of Kirkwall, or in the Deep Road.

I stretched my bar when I had a handful of abilities.  The reason was so that I could get used to the potions being in the far right, toggles ot the left of them, and all other abilities ordered from left to right by category.

So yeah, there is a reason.

They weren't large, nothing was large with DA. Every hud element was small and out of the way. Hud elements in DA2 are indeed large and rather garish. I only sit a few feet from my pc. I don't need to see everything from across the room.

Also Hawke needs to stop putting that sword behind his back, that is a defensive style that you don't ever use unless you're dodging, blocking or countering in combat, but once again 'it looks cool' and that's really all there is to it.
But it just looks silly because I know it wouldn't work out that way in a real scenario, not that this in anyway should be realistic, but I'd like some appreciation for accuracy, even if it was only appearance based in nature.

Also, you never hold a sword behind your back, only a knife it's too heavy and it defeats the purpose of being able to counter attack if you can't move fast enough, swords weigh 2-5 pounds or more usually.  It worked for that Jedi kid because Light sabers weigh nothing, but it doesn't work when you're using a 3 pound piece of steel.

But now I'm just griping about realism in a gaming thread. =]

No. I actually did a comparison of the DAO and DA2 xbox UIs and the DA2 UI is more compact and takes up less screen real estate. And that quick bar for the PC version is at least transparent now, but the real problem was tying its maximum size to screen resolution without making more bars available. If you ever played a mage on PC DAO you had to have encountered this.

Yeah, that's basically how I did it, too.  Bar stretched full out  - and in 1900x1200 resolution, that's a long bar with lots of slots.

Also put all my potions and consumables on the far right, and then group other abilities starting on the left.

I don't get why everyone thinks these are ugly at all. They look better than Origins to me. Maybe I'm just so happy to see something new that I can't help but like them.

It looks to me like the rock wraith is a boss battle and those "profane" signs have a part to play in defeating the spirit.

You don't necessarily have to hate them or like them, you just make a comparison between what they promised (much better graphics from Dao1) and then say "It's much better looking than Dao1" Or "It's not much better looking than Dao1". To me it looks like an incremental improvement expected from most games that have sequels and not actually much better, just the expected amount in comparison to other games, Dao1 was not a looker on anything but the Pc, but it has changed from 'ugly' to 'meh' but in comparison to time from 2 years ago it's now 'ugly' again.

The pc version will still look gorgeous I'm sure, but I'm not playing this on the pc. :(
And those who own the pc version have stated it looks largely similar in quality, so it also was not much better looking for the pc either.

Just my opinion though. :?

Edit: If anyone responds to this post in a negative manner I request that at the end of your reponse you write "You blind, boi." B)

I kind of wonder if the Rock Wraith isn't some sort of earth version of the Harvester. Complete with the two stages, where first you attack the big bulky rock monster, then its quicker, more vulnerable core.

@Falls Edge: I doubt that the screenshots we've seen so far are PC screen at the highest setting.

I will play DA2 on console, and the graphics looks WAY better than Origins on console. And I enjoyed Origins a lot, so I think I'm going to be fine with that graphics :)
