She's holding the sword with one hand at the very top of the hilt (near the cross guard), with the sword behind her back in preparation for a slam much like Mario with his Donkey Kong hammer. She's not facing away from the hurlock.
I've zoomed that thing up to 400% magnification. I still don't see a hand on the hilt. Hell, I can't even see her arms. I also can't see her face . . .I see black where the face should be - I'm assuming that's the back of her head.
If she is preparing to slam it at the hurlock, is she using it like a spear? That's the only way the sword can be in that position and intended to hit that hurlock.
Oh wait - she's in the foreground relative to the hurlock? Is that it?
If so, her aim is off . . . .

Yes, she's in the foreground. You can tell by the circles under them, if nothing else...

That is one bad screenshot, or the lighting in the game was awful, or the resolution was awful . . . or the graphics are going to have me beating my head against a desk.

Is this a Qunari wearing a *shirt*? I can't think of anything else it may be.

Hawke?
Yeah, it's just rogue Hawke after stabbing a Hurlock?

The Rogue daggers in the screen shots remind me of Assassin's Daggers in Guild Wars.
I pointed this out in another thread, but they look an awful lot like Ungues. With the new angles these screenshots provide, though, the comparison is no longer as strong.

I. . .kinda hope the visual effect of whatever ability Hawke's using will look less like, um, micturition when I actually play the game.
Just so you know, I feel horrible for noticing this too.

That silhouette really helped. Now, the picture makes sense.

They're bad screenshots. Still nice to see, though, but they aren't "set up" like the official shots so they all look a bit awkward.

remember how you take pictures while talking and how hideous it looks? exactly (pictures on things in motion makes things look uglier)RitaChe wrote...

Wow, the textures look terrible. Even Fallout 3 looks better than this.
Really? I think this looks much better than Fallout 3 ever did, without mods.

Oh sure, I never may see this scene.
What I'm hoping is that I don't see others as bad.

If they're smart enough to know that their thighs have, like a billion nerves in them, they're smart enough to wear armor on their back.
Not necessarily. In David Eddings'...umm...the books involving Sparhawk, one nation had completely ineffectual armor. Why? Because the paladins that completely destroyed them the last time they went to war wore armor, and the people of that nation are terrified of those knights. Thus their armor is designed to intimidate, because they found it incredibly intimidating. They are completely unaware of the protective value it has.
Darkspawn could work the same way.

They don't look intimidating though, they look silly, like they don't know how to dress themselves in the morning or something. <_<
Edit: Maybe a dev person can answer this question, it isn't really a harmful question and doesn't spoil the game in anyway. I guess maybe they were trying to go with the 'barbarian' or 'berserker' look, but then they did that wrong too by strapping chunks of heavy metal to themselves instead of leather.
Now that I think about it, maybe the change went because of their potrayal as children in awakening, so they adapted how they wore armor accordingly.
