I was a little bit upset over him breaking up with my City Elf the first time I tried his romance, so I went back and put Anora on the throne instead. She may be a b*tch, but I at least my poor girl got a happy ending.

Put Alistair on the thrown last playthrough, since I was a Human Noble that time. I tried to make sure my Cunning and Coercian were as high as possible, so that I could persuade the Landsmeet. BTW, exactly how high do those skills have to be in order to marry him? I was playing as a Warrior, and I think I may have wasted a LOT of attribute points on Cunning...

Umm if he is in love...you'll get an automatic pass. Maxing coercion is always a good idea, though. If you want to discuss him further or have any questions left, we have here a (huge) fan-thread dedicated to Alistair.

thats a good point some one like Alistair would do that because he broke his verginity with her and a man like Alistair could never put aside the frist women he slept with I finde with a guy like Alistair you have to step out side the box to understand him he is not your run of a mill kinde of guyhe has his flaws but his qualities makes up fo that

Blame the game's devs That's got nothing to do with Alistair as a character, just how the game was made IMO.

This is what my f!Amell should have done.  Instead at the end of the game she was still with Alistair but thinking "if I wanted to be a mommy, I'd adopt".

Merilsel yes I do in fact lately I've been getting massive coericion on Alistair.and I can see the bound Bethany and him have and yes he is in Love with Bethany.

You don't need high cunning to have sucess at persuasion, though you do get some extra dialogue options that only appear with higher cunning. You just need the 16 cunning for max coercion to succeed at any persuasion.

If you're upset at Alistair, get revenge by feeding him to the archdemon at the end (no ritual), or play through Darkspawn Chronicles.

I see I need to do at least two more playthroughs with a female character and Alistair as king: a) human noble: make myself queen and non-human for that ugly break-up I now desperately want to see ;D

I had no idea there was a mean side to Alistair! I stumbled into the romance without having a clue and ended up with him sacrifice himself. As shocking as that was, I loved it. I played as a mage and an elf. Two reasons why I couldn't be queen *g* But I had no interest in being queen. Nor did I want Alistair to be king, simply because he didn't desire to. So DR or not, I only got sweet Alistair.

Make that 3 playthroughs. The getting dumped is just a sad (normal) breakup. The UGLY breakup happens if you do something Alistair feels is unforgivable. Before that playthrough I had never done anything that earned even a harsh word from him, so to suddenly have him raging at the Warden was a shocker. >_<; Talk about adrenaline!
