What do you think the 'big ending choice' for ME3 is going to be?

The only big question I want to have to answer at the end of ME3:
What brand of beer to crack open.

Huh? You won't be having any beer til its frelling OVER?! Sucks to be you, dude. By the end my first ME3 playthrough I will have had so much beer I won't even be able to read the label on the next one I pop the top of. :P

I will predict one of three types of endings, and will staunchly defend my right to waffle by refusing to pick just one:

1. BW pulls a "Psych!" kinda bait-n-switch on us and ME3 is not the final resolution, merely another semi-victory where the Reaper invasion is forestalled but yet another sequel is still on the table.

2. BW goes DA:O-Awakenings on us, where Shep has to choose between defending one of two Reaper objectives, e.g. Earth or the Citadel, but if (s)he has properly laid the groundwork over the course of the game up to that point (s)he can still save one without the other being necessarily lost, although perhaps (s)he will have to sacrifice a crew member or two to make that possible.

3. BW just plain ends, with no great and final Renegade vs. Paragon choice having to be made, the ending being simply the result of all prior choices, IOW predetermined before Shep even gets to the big finale. And the only question then is whether Shep can step up and fight in sufficiently bad-axe fashion to avoid the ending switching to a default "Epic Fail" cutscene where Shep's wimpiness causes the whole galaxy to fall.

Geez, looking at all these "save Earth" comments, it is clear that Mass Effect is no longer this huge galactic conflict that it was in ME1 but instead just another "save Earth from alien invaders" game that we have gotten too many times in videogames.

I hope I'm wrong.

Save Humanity or save the Galaxy

But like some have being thinking, I hope we get that nice choice and after the credits roll a Trailer to Mass Effect 4 is given to us.

Because i just dont see how we can defeat the Reapers in ME3, they obviously have a Massive force.

I'm pretty sure at 60% that this will be the ending of ME3. :police:

It seems earth Vs Save other galatic races is the most likely ending. It seems many of you guys agree

Good point. Would be more interesting if, in fact, the problems doesn't truly begin until AFTER the reapers are defeated, with some factions/races wanting to take advantage of the chaos left in the Reaper's wake...

Anyway, I hope it won't boil down to something as simple as "Sacrifie the Earth & the galaxy is saved but Mankind loses everything it has gained as a result of the hard work of Shepard and other humans" or "Save the earth, but Mankind becomes the big bad master race in the galaxy"... I want more variation than just that.

You defeat the Reapers and find out in  one year a darkness is going to consume the galaxy and you have to pay it off with 6 million credits.

I like the idea of either destroying earth to wipe out the reapers completely or letting them go, that would be an interesting decision. Deciding earth or the galaxy? Too easy for people to decide.

I hope so too but I've noticed this general trend growing more and more in the forums. I mean I may not be a Spectre anymore (Council impedes you more than helps) but the idea of standing for something bigger than just humanity, it wasn't a lesson from ME1 I hadn't forgotten throughout my experiences in ME2.

Edit: apologies for the double post.

Didn't ME2 already start the turn in that direction by having the Collectors focus solely on humans? And recall that comment when they see the inside of the Collector ship: one companion notes that all the humans in the Terminus together wouldn't fill this ship, and the other concludes that means they are targetting Earth.

Well i said it before but they are Targeting Earth in my opinion because Humanity is the only hope for the Galaxy, because we humans dont turn away from a threat until we know its no longer a threat. I am sure thats why we are also the only race worthy of ascension in the Milky Way Galaxy.

I think it'd be a good ending if the human race was almost annihilated and only a few hundred million remain (or even less!) after the fight. I'm thinking a cliche' the hero dies ending would be too much and too expected, but rather our species pushed to the limits and barely escapes with our life is the way to go. I guess that could go for all the other species out there. Everyone is wittled down to their strongest, smartest, and luckiest and they rebuild the galaxy. Ta da.

Targeting earth? If one reaper by itself can't defeat the combined forces of the citadel fleets then how do you figure the collectors can attack an entire planet with just one ship - a cruiser class at that? Short answer is they can't, they need more forces which leads me to believe that despite its firepower the collector ship was primarily a transport vehicle designed to eventually act in part with a larger invasion fleet.

Shephard must choose between killing the reapers, or their masters - the monkeys on Earth who have begun the series of events to rule Earth after having watched Planet of The Apes.

Or,

1) Save the majority of humanity
2) Save the majority of the galactice community.
3) Save both as much as possible, sacrificing your squad mates in the process.

Paragons will get an option to live happily ever after with people praising them and being told that they are the best people ever. Renegades will be hated, will probably have everybody dead and told that they are idiots and should suck it up.

It's a trend I've noticed in ME1 and ME2.

All that 'choose aliens or choose humans' choice thing would be so predictable and not interesting, I sincerely hope that BW story designers are above that... why would anyone even want to make such choice with imminent destruction of all organics so near? That's why I am against paragon/renegade pathways when it comes to ending strategic decisions... it didn't have anything to do with moral choices, neither in ME1 nor in ME2. Just hope they're not going for those stupid and now so 'would be predictable' endings.

Fish & chips or bangers & mash. Tough choice..

Saving your squad members or saving the lives of millions of people, it'll be one or the other.
