A mix. I'll probably pause a bit when playing a mage, but most of the time I'll let the AI do it's own thing and keep the combat flow going. When the fight get's difficult, then it's time for positioning, queuing and soon.

A mix here, pause and play for pretty much all except the most trivial fights.

Action for everything except boss fights.

Mixture of both, however I am playing on Nightmare so I'm sure 90% of it will be pause and command. I generally do this, pause and issue my commands, un-pause for 5 seconds to let things play out, then depending on health of enemies go back and pause and issue commands, however if they are almost dead I'll just let it play out.

Sadly, most people will most likely button mash regardless.

For me...Pause & Play...
I'm a bit too uncoordinated to be really effective any other way...I've lost count of the times I've hit the wrong key while playing ME 1&2. lol
Plus, I enjoy pausing and finding the really interesting camera angles to watch from.

Pause and play.
Especially during the more difficult battles. I like to take my time to analyze the situation and build up a good strategy before getting into the thick of combat.

Mixture of both for me... I liked the tactics settings as each squad member probably only has a few particular things I use so can just focus on what my character is doing. But sometimes in awesome battles, pausing and setting up things then watching them pan out just makes me scream "YEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!" at the screen.

Seems most of us are PnP or hybrid, that's good, if people wanted action games there are plenty to choose from, lets keep Dragon age a Pnp based rpg. . I am worried that once i master it at nightmare mode the game will be too easy but.

Actually i do both alot depends on the fight. If i got my ass handed to me the first time through well we will have to micro manage the second attempt. Sometimes depending i will even restart even though the first run was successful just to try a different approach. Generally though i found with my 22 characters the best outcomes for fights involved alot of micro managment, sure i could if I overgeared could "blast them fools" with impunity but that is no fun. No i found having to pause and control Wynne to toss a heal on myself or the tank snatching them from the jaws of death to be alot of fun and really invested me into the fights and the game. Even going so far as to apologize to the tank (Allistair and mostly Shale) on those occasions when i was not in time vowing to do better or reloading and trying again.

Pause & Play a lot, although I often just leave it to the AI and jump in occasionally to tweak things. I never activate abilities with the game running.

Pause and play. I like to keep my blood pressure low when playing BioWare games.

*shrugs* I do actually like action RPGs. They're fun. My hands always have pins and needles after playing and I feel ready to run a 400m sprint.... I especially love co-op, action RPGs.
But I still don't really understand how it was possible to play Origins, or DAII for that matter, without pausing. I had to pause literally every few seconds, simply because its party based. If you don't pause, someone is doing something that you know nothing about. Sure, tactics and all that. But, when micromanagement and optimizing play is possible, I just can't ignore it.
I played Origins on the harder 2 difficulties and had to pause more than I played. Awakening, however, I did sometimes just let the party do their thing and they would still win. Maybe an injury kit would be needed here or there. To my mind, that's not action RPG, that's a result of a high levelled and powerful party who don't need player intervention.
For me, party based RPG = pause and play.

I'll definitely make liberal use of pause. The idea of DA as an action game is just repulsive; controlling a party with all the possible abilities, items, weapons choices, etc, would be insane to do in real-time. I'd end up sticking to only a couple of different skills and let the AI do most of the work and then what's the point of having all that choice?

I'll probably do it like I did in Origins; use my main character in real time in almost all 'normal' fights, and then pause-and-play during the boss fights and the more challenging fights.

I will use both, it seems to work for me so see no reason to change.

Exactly its all the more fun to use the control you have by using pause and play!! Being a control freak by nature too its my fav way to play DAO, a lil bit of action but mostly pause and play for DA2!

A mix like Origins. I'll be pausing the game whenever things get 'tense' or I need to give commands to someone other than Hawke. For easilly won battles not as much.
But the more tactical pauseplay is too yummy a feature not to use.

Pause and play, with a small amount of action rpg. Just find it more fun to strategise using all of my party.

The same as I did in Origins. Let my party follow their set-up tactics while I pause and play my mage.

A mix, don't think there can be 100% action RPG in these games ,was like that for most bioware ones.
KOTOR was like that ,think future games will also be so.

I expect pause and play will be the norm for me since I play mages. Too many spells need perfect aim to make sure as many enemies or allies as possible fall into their radius. Anticipating where to throw my spells would also be tough if everyone kept moving while I prepared to smite them.
