I am hoping the developers read this forum, there is one feature greatly lacking ME1 and 2 and that is the Xbox 360 controller support for the PC version of the game. I can't imagine it would be to hard to implement considering the game is out for Xbox 360 and there are numerous hacks to get it to work on ME1 and 2.

Both the ME1 and ME2 controller profiles/hacks for PC have clocked in at 10-15thousand downloads. I doubt users are downloading it twice as well so going on that theory this is 10-15thousand unique players who want to experience Mass Effect on the PC but with the comfort of using a controller.

Please implement this BioWare, it would make a huge difference to my experience and I'm sure many others!

This has been asked many, many times before. Yes we know it should be included, except for a few loonies who think that including 360 pad support will make it a worse game somehow (ignore them). Yes you should have used the forum search function before making this topic.

Why?

I don't think it'll ruin the game, I just think it's unnecessary. I've played some Xbox 360 ME2 and I have to say that PC controls trump on every angle.

Everyone I know who's played both versions also think that PC controls are far greater than the controller based ones.

Personally, I hope that BIoware instead goes the other direction and actually stops limiting PC players to a controller-based game.

Just sayin'.

I have the controller but I prefer the K&M. However I dont see why they wouldnt include controller support. And I wouldnt be against it as long as they dont put the crappy auto aim in that consoles get. I can aim myself I dont need the game to do it for me.

Everyone I know who's played both versions also think that PC controls are far greater than the controller based ones.

Reasons why:

- Because more options is never a bad thing. They have to make the 360 controls for 360, and bringing them to PC is an extremely simple porting process because Vista/Win7 support it natively.

- Because some people game with their PC's on a couch, and using keyboard/mouse on a couch is difficult and uncomfortable.

- Some people enjoy using gamepads more, regardless of the added precision of the mouse, for whatever reason (some people were just raised on gamepads and never got used to K&M, some people find K&M uncomfortable but gamepads to be easier on their hands or whatever)

Basically, there's nearly zero effort required to do it, and it will benefit many gamers. Personally I would rather swallow a bullet than play a shooter on PC with a gamepad, but I also recognize that I am not everybody, and there is no point disadvantaging some people for no good reason.

Keyboard and mouse are the best control scheme for games like this. So while the option to use console controllers might be nice for some people, before the developers waste time on that, they should make sure that ME 3 makes the best use of the advantages of keyboard and mouse. Because they did not do what with ME 2. It unnecessarily forced several important functions on a single key, lacked hotkeys, didn't make proper use of the mouse wheel, and didn't allow for proper configuration of the mouse.

It doesn't actually (and isn't, or more games companies would do it), you have to download drivers to allow it to work correctly from Microsoft.

I want it purely because I can then play it from my sofa. Just like when I owned it on 360.

You download drivers on XP, when you plug it into 7 it just "installs" the same way that USB hard drives do the first time you plug them in. P.S. plenty of companies do it in their games, even games with no console version at all (Crysis 1 even has a cool interface thing to let you know when it's connected/disconnected). Pretending that it's difficult to implement a control scheme that you already had to implement, for a company like Electronic Arts is pretty funny.

I just don't understand why they didn't do it. I don't know if it was because they didn't expect the userbase for ME 1 & 2 to be so large on PC since it was originally all designed for 360. But now they've seen the size of the PC userbase for ME.

They didn't support xbox 360 controllers simply because they didn't want to... It shouldn't be about gamers liking it or not, it must be there as a choice to every gamer who prefers it. This topic can't be ingnored anymore. If ME3 for PC doesn't support gamepads I'm not buying ME4... Oh wait...Never mind

OP the UI for the PC version is very different than the console versions so adding controller support wouldn't be as easy as you're making it out to be. I too would love to have native controller support in the PC version but I don't think it will happen for the reason I mentioned.

I think the keyboard/mouse controls are better, but I LOVE switching between the two in Skyrim. My PC is hooked up to my home theater. I can use the kb/m on the couch, but sometimes I want to sit differently.

Plus after playing all these games that support the x360 pad, a controller option is not only appreciated, it's kind of expected, ESPECIALLY on games that have console counterpart.

I can safely say that since they aren't including controller support I won't be buying this game period. Adding in support for the controller is extremely simple to do and it just goes to show they are to lazy and don't care about fan's enough to do it. I'll be waiting for this game to hit the used shelf on 360/PS3 before I buy it to assure these lazy developers don't get a dime from me.

I think it should be included. I've started playing a lot of my old console favourites on PC, which of course have no controller support. Because my PC is hooked up to my TV and Surround Sound in my living room, mouse and keyboard really isn't practical. Using Xpadder does am excellent job, but I can still feel the bonus when playing a game like Fallout 3 or Skyrim that comes with support built in.

I don't understand the K&M elitism that seems to be flying around. I can and do use it quite regularly when I'm on break at work, but having the controller option at home is really nice. Why can't both types of gamers be accounted for?

I've completly overlooked this news piece - read it and write me in the eye *G* that this ISN'T the lamest excuse EVER. http://www.eurogamer...upport-gamepads

I mean, c'mon. Controller support is even BUILD into the UDK3 and you pretty much just have to copy - edit - paste to recycle assets from a 360 game into pc. I'm totally annoyed by this attitude.

It states on the official FAQ for the game that the 360 controller is supported. They really need to edit that line.

I made a thread about this too ... I want to know what they mean when the developer said
Quote "Pads may work, but they're not officially supported "

Funny they said that about mass effect 1&2 but a smart guy hacked the inifiles and boom Xbox support . Only reason I killed off my 3 pre-orders the files where encrypted what means no controller support . I will not support developers that lack respect for those who write them checks . Developers work for us not the other way around .

So far Bioware is full of **** .

They are indeed full of ****. Porting this game from the Xbox 360 requires MORE work to get rid of controller support.

im not worried if it doesnt, i absolutly hate mouse and keyboard with a passion, its just not comfy sat there with a stupid keyboard, pressing single keys instead of nice analouges sticks, BUT mass effect 1 and 2 work brilliantly with xpadder, so yeah its an annoyence, but im not worried. i think 360 pad support and mouse and keyboard should be included with EVERY game standard. thats my opinion,

I don't want to troll, but it IS an annoying fact. And i'm very surprised so few gamers speak out loud about it. We should start a poll - not that this will eventually lead to controller support - but at least it's making a point. Gosh, why do we have such problems in 2012?!

We should be driving flying cars goddammit! ;D
