Just one, I'm getting into investing and started with a company that owns the company whom games I love. This year will most likely be good for them with three major titles coming.

So Bioware, and EA for that matter, you better sell and sell good for my sake lol.

This thread can serve as a discussion for trading, stock market and investing.

Be one way to bring the promo fiasco (concerning DA2 with some UK retailers) to their attention. It does remind me of that case with a woman buying shares in Marks and Spencers to complain about their pricing policy concerning bras.

Also started a small investment myself and feeling very nervous. Another five years or so to go until fruition.

LOL GUYS SHOULD I GOT FOR THE FULL 51% PERCENT LOLOLOLOL

Joking aside, this was done more as an expirement to see through small trials and errors how this works.

You only need a share to be invited to a shareholder meeting. It's what that woman did as customer services was fobbing her off.

But yeah, I hear long term is best. Still nervous though.

I wouldn't like shareholder meetings personally just a bunch of people going blah blah blah XD

Hope your investments bear fruit though in these times some of us need good news instead of realising our money we invested went poof!

When I started, I picked up a hundred, because I was told that was a good starting point. But it was in a much much smaller company than EA, so the price wasn't too bad.

Good Luck, it should be a good year for them.

Now you have bragging rights whenever a dev plays the "You aren't a shareholder!" card.

Do you know, I don't think I've ever heard a dev play the 'you aren't a shareholder' card?

So now you are technically owner of EA.

Prepare for some EA bashing PMs.

It's Stanley Woo's ultima ratio whenever a complain thread gets real messy.

Not quite lol. They own the stock but not the company itself. But i guess owning anything of EA's is enough for people to bash them.

Hmm, I wonder if it's possible to buy just a share (you'd think I'd know having worked in the City of London for years... but I don't).  I'm too leery of the stockmarket casino to do any serious investing, whoever the company, but it'd be cool to be a random shareholder on the cheap.  Maybe I should look into it... if I knew where to start.

It's a whole load of messing around and paying various fees. Dealing with a stock broker and the like talking nonsense that it's impossible to understand. It's probably best left avoided unless you are serious about getting into investments.

I'm certainly thinking it's best avoided in terms of serious investments - serious loss of money every time I've had anything to do with the stock market.  I still cringe at the memory of my endowment mortgage, for instance, though I'm probably lucky in that I at least broke even when I finally wrote it off as a bad idea.

And I'd forgotten about the legion of middlemen and obscure fees for everything you can imagine and a whole bunch besides.  But in spite of all that, part of me still likes the idea of having "a" share in certain random companies of my whimsy at the time.  I expect those exorbitant fees and a profound feeling of "...uh?" will put me off in short order, though.

Ironically the chart was low a few days ago before I bought it, but now has increased a bit, especially during the DA2 demo announcement.

Also I know they're also making an Oblivion type game called Kingdoms of something, I hope it doesn't flop.
