Who do you like better: Picard or Kirk?

It depends on what I'm picking for ... and archealogical dig? Picard. Batteling shirtless with the Gorn? Kirk. Couple of days on Risa? Riker .. or maybe Data, he is fully functional afterall. =P

I love them both equally. Although TOS was before my time, I grew up with them because my father was a Trek fanatic. I saw Wrath of Khan in the movie theater when I was like 5 or something (and then threw-up all my popcorn and junk after the ear scene which STILL bothers me to this day.) It was a big deal when TNG premiered in my house.

My husband & I have been going through all the Treks since he had never seen them. We did all of TOS, we did the Animated series, and we are on season 6 of TNG now, with DS9, Voyager and Enterprise filling out our Netflix queue.

Really, this question is like asking me to choose which of my kids I like more - not possible!

edited to add -> Though I don't have any Picard plushies, and I do of Kirk......

Picard, of course, Stewart is a gifted actor. On a different note, it was pretty funny how much Kirk ignored the prime directive. Run into some ones temple yelling "You're gods don't exist, and your BIBLE is nothing but..LIES!

I think his exclamation needs more pauses in strange places - but that's what made him so awesome!

Hard to choose... If you put a phaser to my head, I'd probably say Picard. He's way more quotable than Kirk (KHAN!!! not withstanding). Although to be fair, Picard was also a total ****** in the first season. Sisko remains my favorite, though.

I'd always heard it was "Teflon" due to its anti-Klingon properties.  Sigh, I'd say that joke hasn't aged well but it was just as bad when it was younger.

Eh....I'd say old Kirk > series Picard (with a small margin) > movie Picard > new Kirk.

Anyway, round 2....the battle of the first officers, Spock vs Riker, or the pointy ears vs the beard. Go!

Kirk, any day of the week.

I find Picard boring and too much of a diplomat rather than a Captain of a Naval Warship, which Kirk was through and through. This is not a knock on Patrick Stewart, who I think is an excellent actor and deserves all the praise he can get.

Who's actually a better captain or who's more entertaining? If I were going to be some random crewman on an Enterprise I would want Picard to be my captain; he's probably smarter, and he's definitely more by the book. However, as far as good TV goes, you can't beat Kirk. He's a cowboy, and that's why I love him.

picard's the better actor by far, but kirk's the one i'd want in serious situation. plus, he's the 1st 2 knock boots with a hot blue alien. theb there's the kissing scene w/uhura--happened during the civil rights mvmnt--message was sent.

Although I like Kirk, he was before my time. I grew up with Picard and will favor him always.
