I'm looking foward to Fenris because I haven't really seen any video of him yet and the mystery is driving me CRAZY! I really like 2H warriors too so I hope he's a good one and doesn't come with his training all jacked up like Oghren in origins or lacking a spec like Sten.

For me, it's Merill +1 and Anders -1 (if he's in the game) because he was really annoying in Awakening.

Bethany is a must because I don't play mage. Unfortunately she's my sister. I don't want her to get hurt.
Aveline will have to guard and tank Bethany for me.
Last slot for essential companions. Preferable female so my party would be all female companions.

EDIT: Bethany will remind  me of my personal involvement which is my main reason to play. Without Bethany, I will never accept Hawke as my Player Character.

The least however will that would be 'badass in the trench coat'( that's what I call him) because if he is whom everyone thinks he is, then I had enough of him in awakenings...and that would mean that he either leaves the party for quite a bit of time or doesn't join til REALLY late in the story...judging from awakenings timeline( if that winds up mattering)...

I wouldn't mind if Anders was a companion, would be a bit a strange considering my fav save that I plan to import first has him staying with the Wardens and now he's out chillin' with Hawkette - must have not been able to see ma rogue swap spit with Alistair no more, hehe. I'd also look foward to actually being able to talk to him this time and not just click on random trees and stuff, lol.
Plus hey, when it comes to returning companions, it could have been much worse... Valenna might have come back! OH NOOOOOEESS! THE HORROR!

Surprisingly, and I know this is coming from a dreaded "hater", but all of them seem interesting, at least from the tiny amount of background and screenshots.. Bethany is probably the one I'm most interested in, the least, Sebastion as I already had howe on my team in awakening. Varric comes in second for least interested in, though that's probably because I stumbled into the Varric thread and my eyes lit on fire and I ran screaming from the room..

If it's not actually Anders (the mage with the mouth!) then Varric easily slips into first place since I have a thing for characters that can spin a yarn. I love female warrior types, so Aveline is a no-brainer, and I'm curious about Fenris.
I'd like to see what the family dynamic is between the Hawkes next, but it's not as pressing as the first four.
The last three on my list I'm not too excited about. Dalish Elves tend to make me cranky and I've never met one I've liked off the bat. My Hawke will be female and I honestly worry that Isabela will upstage her. Sebastian just hasn't hooked me. The accent is awesome, but the trailer just didn't grab me.

Your not the only one...though only certain characters I made would have had that options( the ones that were married to Anora or Alistar would have been eliminated)...

naw my  warden was married to anora it was  Marrige he was in for power and her suport he  did what he like i don't think anora  puts out offen enof for my warden he hade morrigan and many more on the side lol like faithfull marrige is not something you have in a power bid lmao am sure anora  plots the wardens death and has her house elf lmao  am so bad

That's why I wasn't allowing them to take any extra chicks on...though my HN wardens did always a thing for Leliana...so they were constantly flirting with her....
