Weird picture?

So I was playing Mass Effect 2 on one of the Hammerhead missions and the game was running perfectly - no problems at all. However when I came across an unusually long loading screen loop; the game had loaded and the area appeared, but in some sort of abstract thermal picture.

I have attempted to save and reload, but the picture still comes up and I have checked that the HDMI cable isn't loose and tried reconnecting it, but that doesn't help either. I have also attempted to restart my PS3, but it still hasn't changed. I'm going to let my PS3 cool for a bit to see if it was an overheating problem.

I tried other games to root out whether the problem was just with ME2 and it was. I'm stumped as to what may have caused this problem; the game or my console?

If anyone has had a simular issue please share a solution as I'm not willing to lose that save along with the other ones I lost with the corrupt data (approx 51hrs of gameplay lost).

Do you have an earlier save? Loading an earlier one might work. If not, you could try on another PS3, perhaps a friend's.

No, but I have an autosave and funnily enough that freeze-frame right there of Shepard (bottom-left) and the Hammerhead vehicle infront of him *was* that autosave.

If it goes that far then I may pop around a friends house and see if it works on his PS3...

That weird picture has popped up for others before, but usually just reloading would fix it. Try exiting or restarting the mission?

Restarting the mission didn't work, I have also tried exiting: It returned to normal for the main-menu and other options but when I load the save it appears again...maybe it's the save?

I'm going to start a new game to see if it could be...

Well I've started a new game and it's a perfectly fine picture, so I've narrowed it down to the save being completely buggered...

The same thing happened to me during the Project Overlord DLC. I just turned off my PS3 and turned it back on. Everything was fine. Overlord for me was extremely glitchy.

Exit right out of the game. That always clears it up for me.

Yeah, if you exit completely out of the game and restart it should be fine, I had similar situation on another mission/save where I was able to load that save up without issues after doing this

Had the same thing happen to me. Actually thought it was a part of the game for a minute until I realized it was a glitch! lol

Happened once to me by the galaxy map. Restarting the game fixed it, no probs since
