Is there any good reason to choose Morinth over Samara?

I recruited her on my last playthrough to finally unlock dominate, and I was hoping to hear her talk a little more because I personally don't like Samara's voice very much, but each time I took her in a mission she just said Samara dialogue anyways so it was moot point.

You do now what a Ardat-Yakshi ir right?

It's all good, if you're strong enough to resist her in the recruitment mission, you're strong enough to survive sex too.  Morinth told me so.

Have you met anyone that told you how great sex is with her, yet?

Joker said she's really hot, if that's what you mean.

Take her to Tuchanka with Grunt to the sick Krogans in Wrex's Camp. She talks.....once.

imho Morinth takes too long to get. By the time you have enough renegade points the game is mostly over. Thats my only complaint about "getting" her. And, of course, I would only get her for my RenShep.

The fact that Morinth's only choice was a life of freedom on the run, or imprisonment simply because of a genetic condition. Sure she killed people, but judging her over that when you have Jack of all people on your team is just hypocritical.

Now I've only chosen morinth once, but I can understand why some might chose her more often.

Are we now going with the Joker defence? Jake is bad and all but at lease she can change. Morinth is an addict who just want toget by no matter what and as long as she gets her fix.  She will never change, some times it's best to put a rabid dog down.

Yeah, Jack's a psycho. However, she doesn't present Shepard with a "her or me" choice. Morith's situation demands that you choose Samara or her.

The choice here is obvious.

If I had to make a similar choice between, say, Jack or Tali, Jack would die. I like Jack as a character, but she's a loose cannon.

I've never recruited Morinth but maybe I will just because no one's posted enough dialogue video of her online. It will have to be during my super-Renegade run which I've not done yet though.

Technically, Jack and Miranda do have a "her or me" moment, but it isn't a binary choice and you can Take a Third Option if your stats allow.

Anyway, there are many reasons that Shepard might save Morinth over Samara, but a few of them could very well be "Shepard is a badass, but not necessarally all that smart."

Also, Dominate is damn awesome.

I'm no particular fan of Jack's, but Jack only kills...

a) People who's screwed with her or otherwise tried to hurt her.
B) Because she's got a wild temper and flies into rages when confronted with the aforementioned people who've screwed with her.

She also has a fairly good reason for being the way she is, what with how Cerberus pumped her full of drugs and psychologically scarred her for life.

Morinth does what she does coldly and with intention. She kills because she chooses to, not out of anger. Comparing Jack to Morinth is like comparing a man who kills his wife when he finds her in bed with another man, to a man who goes out and murders a dozen people just because he felt like it.

If BioWare had tried to make Morinth more of a tragic figure, I could understand and sympathise with her. Heck, my Paragon Shepard might even consider taking her side, with Samara coming out looking like the an unfealing zealot. But they don't. BioWare made it very clear that Morinth kills because she enjoys killing, and does so with cold cruelty.

This.

Also, there was an amazing piece of creative writing over in the 'post your own inter-party banter' thread that made me think twice about how happy I was with Samara in my team:

Shep: Am I? Samara, take Joker off the floor with your biotics and prepare to slam him.
Samara: !
Joker: Shepard, hey man, I think I'll just go and-
Shep: Samara. By your oath of subsummission, I order you to use your biotics to pick Joker and prepare to reduce him to a pile of slimy, brittle bits.
Samara: ...
(Samara envelops Joker in a biotic aura, and lifts him off the ground.)
Joker: Shepard, if this is about getting you killed on the Normandy I really didn't mean to and I-
Shepard: Shut up, Joker. Now, Samara, when I count to three, you will slam Joker into the ground and kill him. Do you understand?
Samara: (silent)
Shepard: (changing his tone of voice for the first time)
Shepard: Do you understand me, Justicar?
Samara: I hear you, Shepard, and I will obey as my Code compells me.
Shepard: Then obey this: turn towards that window, look at that reflection, and see someone who was prepared to murder someone else simply because they were told to.
Samara: I would only be following your orders as my code compells me.
Shepard: Yeah, we've heard that excuse before: at Nuremberg. We killed those immoral bastards too for following orders and their laws. Now put Joker down, gently.
(Samara does)
Shepard: You may think yourself moral and justified, Samara, but I don't. I personally find you an abhorrent aspect of Asari culture that the Asari have romanticized in ignorance. But I don't care: if the Asari want to respect people like you, all the worse for them. The Asari need more flaws. But I do not. The people on my ship do not. Given how you'd be obliged to take on any and all of us on sight and knowledge had we met in other circumstances, I've already received more than once voice of concern about your possible conduct. You do not like me? Fine. I promise to go to my room later and cry and sob and miserate about how much that means to me. But you are not my moral compass. You are my tool for stopping a genocidal alien threat to humanity. Is this clear?

I'd never thought of Samara as being a character who could do far worse than Morinth in the right circumstances...

I can't say I'm very fond of her either. Stalking around the ship like that spying on people is creepy. I honestly don't need her on my team or ship. Plus I never found out or was able to use the information in that greybox device Donovan Hock ripped from her boyfriends skull. (badass move on the part of Mr. Hock BTW)

In short I don't trust her and want that data to use how I see fit.

Most I think assume that it will come into play in Mass Effect 3. Data that could "implicate the alliance" is too big of a story arc for the Kasumi DLC, considering it could potentially turn the galaxy against the Alliance.

Frankly I trust Kasumi way more than I trust Zaeed, at least Kasumi has morals. Kasumi is just a bit odd.

Not so. The choice there is whose loyalty you keep, not who dies. Both walk out of that encounter alive. Someone has to die in the Morith/Samara confrontation.

Morith is a murderer. You know for a fact she murdered Nef. She's so dangerous that Eclipse Merc tells Samara she would rather die than be hurt by Morith "in ways you can't imagine." Samara has killed also, but as numerous Asari tell you, she is a Justicar who has the sanction of Asari law. For all practical purposes, Justicars are predecessors of Spectres.

And, not to derail the conversation further, but Kasumi's skillset is one of the best in the game.

Heavy Overload? Nice.
Shadow Strike? Extra nice. So nice.
Flashbang Grenade turned Frag Grenade? SUPERB. One-hits all husks, disorients and damages humanoids, and pretty fast cooldown.

And did I mention Shadow Strike? Amazing skill. On lower difficulty levels, Rapid Shadow Strike is basically looking at stuff you want to die and watching them die one after another.
