I've had this game since it first game out, and I've loved every minute of it, but starting from about a year ago -- since I've moved onto other things, only returning to play "Origins" every once and awhile -- the audio (which includes the music) always seems to just cut in and out for some reason.

I mean, it started out small, but now it's grown to a huge problem that I've just ended up lowering the sound effects volume and the music volume all the way just so I don't need to hear it cut in and out anymore.

Does anyone know if there's a way for me to fix this? It's just gotten to the point where I don't even care to play the game anymore, which stinks because I've just started to get into the DLC (like Witch Hunt or Awakening and so forth).

I'd really like to know if there's a way I can fix it. Thanks,

I as well have this problem. In fact, this problem is quite widespread, in various degrees, from a tiny stutter, to missing lines of dialogue, to audio failing completely. There are only guesswork attempts at fixing it at best, and I for one am extremely displeased with Bioware's technical support on this. I have a quad-core Intel CPU, 6GB Ram, ATI Radeon 5800 series GPU and Realtek Onboard sound with all drivers updated properly in every way... My computer can eat this game for breakfast, and yet Bioware cannot patch out such a small problem?

It's unacceptable, and for me it's game breaking... I simply can't stand the constant clicking and hiccuping of the audio.

Yeah, I'm the same way. The problem for mine is the PS3 game, but I can only imagine a PC being as worse. I just wish they'd fix it already...

If you're using the "skip dialogue" button, don't. That's what usually causes the audio hiccups.

I admit I've used it once or twice considering I've already played through it before and don't need to hear them go on and on about something, but I don't use it often. Will it happen even if I've only pressed it once or twice or will it keep on occurring?

I only ask because it's not really those scenes that are a problem for me -- in fact, while they're talking, the audio is fine (including the music). My problem comes when the dialogue is over and it's time for me to move again, so as I'm running -- or fighting -- that's when the audio always cuts in and out.

I hope that made sense. Anyway, I'll stop skipping through the dialogue, but I don't think I've done it enough time to make much of a difference,

All I know is I used to use dialogue skip sparingly (to skip some of the more long-winded dialogue... usually when Wynne or Loghain were talking, lol) and I'd have audio problems of the kind you've described. Once I stopped using dialogue skip I stopped having audio problems. I cannot say for certain that this is your exact problem. Trying playing through without using it and see if your audio problems stop. If it does, then it was the dialogue skip. If it doesn't, then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas as to what could be causing it.

Yeah, I'll definitely try it. I hope that's the issue because I just ordered Awakening -- which will arrive tomorrow -- and I shutter to even play it if the issues will come up again.

Thanks, friend. :)

Just FYI, Awakening has some sound issues of its own. Right at the beginning, when you're in the Keep, the audio can get a little wonky. There's nothing you can do about it, but it doesn't last past the start of the game.
