I think I'd rather them put the work they would need for something like this into more armor, collapsible helmets, a few more side missions, or some party customizations.

Well yes but if this were a perfect world and we could have everything I would want this. I do imagine my sheps with different body types.
Infiltrator: Athletic
Vanguard: muscular/body builder kind of like the pick that xXSnak3Eat3rXx posted.
Adept: slender/toned

No Slender punk is gonna outrun someone like an Elite NFL receiver or running back. Slender faster than an Athlete? Think about it. On top of that a minus on health? Come on MAN!?!

i dont think i would choose to be fat but normally i just choose the "standard" shepard instead of customasation the thing is: if i try customazation (i have dyslexia and it doesnt really help me here :P ) i always get an shepard patatohead it would be much nicer if you could add thing to the standard shepard instread of choosing full custom or full standard

I would absolutely love the ability to play as a more wiry male Shepard, I think that would be really cool.

A more muscular female Shepard would potentially be nice --although not the bodybuilder type, I'm gonna spend all day trying to unsee that OP picture. Not my cup of tea-- especially since she story has her do things like pick up guys like Kaidan, lift iron girders off people and trade fisticuffs with yahg. When stuff like that happens, I have to suspend my disbelief a little. Muscle density can only get you so far.

But it's not necessary, so I'd be willing to sacrifice it for more important things.

Whaaaaaaaat!?!? I like the idea of bodytypes, but women with muscles the "athletic" section here appeal to such a tiny portion of the "male" audience that I can't see it mattering. So thankfully, it won't be supported.

To be honest this is what I think Miranda herself would look like in the gym - but to be fair FemShep would probably be just as eager with the weights.

the picture you provided for slender? hell no, sorry, can you imagine that girl having any stamina or strength at all, and the guy is not much better. sorry, but civilians can look that way, elite special ops solders? makes about as much sense as a fat elite special ops soldier (what did you think N7 was?)

Bodybuilders wouldn't work either, too much pain to fit the suits to them, plus carrying all that muscle is not fun. only people who don't know anything about body builders think that's a healthy look, those guys might be strong, but they also need physical therapists, special supplements etc to just stop from falling apart. they get sick like there's no tomorrow and they often have the same issues with shortness of breath and joint stress as obese people (because essentially it IS the same thing - carrying more weight then your bones and circulatory system can handle)

other then that variable body types would be lovely, but I'm not sure how cost effective it would be to create.

I'd settle for Femshep getting her own set of animations.

Yes, please :innocent:

This.

And we're lucky if Shep gets new hairstyles in ME3.  I highly doubt they will spend time/resources on making new body types for Shepard.

No offense, but I found a couple of the example pictures very disturbing....

I would like to be able to choose between rather slim (not anorexic!!) and more muscular but not in this extreme fashion! A height slide would be neat indeed.

But honestly, all I really care about is better hair styles. And I'd even put up with the most ugly hair if they got the gameplay to rock in exchange... get your priorities right, BioWare, pleeease, and I won't complain. (Not implying that they got them all wrong before!)

Just wanted to point out that "beautiful muscles" that bodybuilders try to achieve do not equal to "great strenght". Take a look at weightlifting champions for instance, some of them would even be classified as "fat" at first glance.

As for the inclusion of body types in the game, it's a good idea, you could even add gameplay elements to it (athlecs sprint better, muscular have better melee, etc.) But it doesn't seem possible. The game is already huge (and probably very expensive to make) and including all those models and variations would probably send costs through the roof.

Oh I'm gonna need the names of the ladies on those pictures... FOR SCIENCE!

Well I was thinking different body types to add diversity and further characterisation to my shepards, to fit with there  personalities  more and because a more muscular body tyype would fit with my vanguards face better than the current body type. There are other reasons to add things like athletic body types other than to appeal to the "male audience”.

This could work. Especially for my Earthborn female Shep who *did* have bodybuilding days.:D

On-topic, if there were body types they'd probably have to be tied to class, with Soldier obviously being the bulkiest and maybe Adept as lighter/more agile. I don't expect to see such a system in the next Mass Effect, but maybe in future games.

I like how there was a sudden burst of outrage over the idea of a 'Fat Bodytype'. Ya know, just because Shepard might not be a big tub of lard doesn't mean there probably aren't humans out there in the galaxy that are fatasses.

I just used "male" cause I didn't know if this was a lesbian thing or not and I was trying not to be offensive.  That's all. :)

I guess I can see your point, but I still don't think there would be enough call for this kind of customization.  Now a ME3 toolset....  I'm sold.  :):):)

I think the OP's idea is great.  More customization the better.

Also if you guys are into more customization you should check out my thread I just posted called Custom class prize... I think its a great Idea and as someone new to the forums (but a long time ME player) I would love to hear everyone's input.

No thank you. This would take away a lot of resources to implement right. Plus, I don't think it would make sense with some of it. I already view Shepard as above average. He's a marine, so he's definitely muscular already. There's no way someone in Shepard's position would be "slender" any way.
