This is why I don't like that they make companion "comebacks" in the sequel. Ruins the story.

Anyways, I'm going to assume that the fact Anders is helping out refugees is one of the signs of how he's changed. The old Anders would have sympathized with refugees, but probably would have kept to himself to avoid attention.
This is the part that excited me the most! One of my favorite things about him in Awakening that never really gets addressed is the fact that, if you let him go when you first meet him, he comes back and insists on helping. Then there’s the fact that his necklace is from when he rescued a bann during one of his escape attempts. He's self-centered, but he's compassionate, too.

Meh. I don't like it when they bring back companions like this. You have the opportunity to let them die in Origins or Awakening and if you choose that they should stay dead! But if Anders is a "permanent" companion in DA2 then he will be that to all players regardless of choices in previous game, because it would not be fair if they who had Anders killed gets one companion less in DA2.
This is why I don't like that they make companion "comebacks" in the sequel. Ruins the story.
You don't actually get the option to let him die. You can turn him over to the templars, in which case we know that one of them wants him to die, but there is no confirmation of his death.

Verric is the first. Isabela is said to be in a later part of the game (David Gaider said that the second part of the demo takes place later in the game and thats when you get Isabela) so I'm guessing Anders is nr.2? I don't think we will se him during the first year so I'm guessing after the first longer time jump when the first year is finnished?Riosred wrote...

Party:
We all know Isabella is around. I haven't been following too
close, so I don't know if this is common knowledge. The article mentions
that one of the first party members to join you will be Anders, the
mage from Awakening. He may have changed dialogue based on his ending in
Awakening, but suffice to say is that he left the Wardens after the
events of Awakening to live in Kirkwall, where he uses his healing
abilities to aid refugees in the city.
now i dont know how accurate this is but it has never failed when someone posts stuff from game informer
[link removed][posting scans of magazine pages is a no-no]
EDIT:for people who dont want spoilers and sorry for posting those pics
If his dialogue changes to depending on the choices you made in Awakening, (and Awakening is a few months after the end of the blight) how can he be one of the first companions you meet when you get to Kirkwall...? Isn't Kirkwall right after you flee Lothering...am I missing something?

And he has an awesome resurrection-cat.

I don't see why people would assume that the "change" in him is for good... he might've become an evil badass... Which brings me to the thought that maybe it isn't Justice that possessed him... Oh me and my crazy speculations xD

As DG said, he is not the same Anders as you may remember him to be in Awakenings - give it a chance, you might yet become an Anders fan

OMG NO!!!! I don't want traces of Wynne on Anders!!!!

Ugh...It has nothing to do with Anders as a character. I do like him. He has the good bits of Alistair without the whiny, wimpy, lack of confidence bits. Its the principle. It ruins the story when you get the choice to let someone die only to discover that "big surprise! The devs have brought him/her back to life".

Making him a warden means he has a lot more freedom. It will be interesting if you meet him in the two months he's supposed to be off doing his own stuff, and how you react with him determines whether or not he comes back permanently.
templar: show me your circle permission
anders: i'm not with the circle
templar: you're under arrest!
anders: but i'm a grey warden
templar: prove it
anders: how do i go about to do that? the commander never did say how to prove it
templar: silence mage, you're coming with me for interrogation.
anders: look! a maleficar!
templar: where?!
*anders runs away* : i can't believe that actually worked:D

Yeah it's those Bioware writers that the templars should be really worried about - all that power at their disposal :innocent:

I actually think that something like this is how we recruit Anders, like Hawke stepping in to help, and afterwards Anders decides he'd like to tag along out of gratitude (and/or in case of future confrontations with templars).nightcobra8928 wrote...

If Anders is now possessed by a spirit, I hope his own personality hasn't been completely obliterated...that would just be cruel to bring him back totally different. =(
And thats exactly why BioWare will do it. They looooove those tears!
