I don't think Anders' character is going to be changed TOO drastically. I think he'll probably complain less, and be less of a coward, with Justice perhaps giving him a bit more of a backbone. Anybody else remember all the Justice/Anders banter in Awakening? Anders being... kind of a big selfish runaway from everything was a big part of his character, but it sounds like he's resolved now to actually help his fellow mages, instead of just himself, as Justice suggested. So in a way that's a big personality change, but at the same time it's not too much.

Anders is possessed by Justice? (runs off to investigate) Oh, wow.

I really hope you're right, Fel, and that this doesn't affect his personality too much.

On a side note: Would Justice be able to 'force' control of Anders' body if he needed to? Just curious.

If Justice took control against Anders' will, it would make Justice a demon, and being a demon isn't very Just. However, I do hope Justice "chimes in" like the girl from Jade Empire, instead of being like Wynn's spirit. Though it's entirely possible Anders was killed and possessed by Justice like with Kristoff, but that would... be too cruel of a cheeky tease, even for Bioware.

Well, I see 3 possibilities here:

1.  Anders died, and Justice possessed his dead body, a la Kristoff.  Which means, we're not getting Anders, we're getting Justice.

2.  Anders volunteered to be possessed, for whatever reason.  Now this technically makes him an abomination, just like Wynne.  Hopefully, he's not as preachy.  We might get a mix of Anders and Justive here.

3.  Justice possessed - in the "kick Anders out and take over" sense - Anders live body.  Which makes Justice a demon, Anders an abomination, and leads to "kill it!! Kill it with fire!!!!!".  Guess we'd get all Justice here.

I hope Anders isn't technically a corpse... 'Twould totally kill the romantic mood. I'm assuming he still is mostly the old Anders we know and is just sharing his body with Justice, which would mean he didn't actually die (and just came really close like Wynne).

It would be kind of sad if he needs Justice to stay alive, though. :(

I'd like this best, I think.

Ummm, how will they explain the ending where he might have died?

Justice brought him back somehow.

DG said they were willing to ignore the epilogues to bring a character back etc. I don't have the link atm.

I wonder if he has an idle animation for "The Spicy Shimmy"?

This would be the famous "handwave".

I'm hoping for a damn good explanation.

Just finished it this morning, and finished GOA and WH a little earlier today. Have my DA2 save all ready to go.

That's what I like to Hear!!:D

My point was there announcement way back that they wouldn't give an explanation for how your Warden could die, but yet he can still be imported into Awakening like nothing happened.

Is it really that bad? It's not like it's unbelievable (*cough*Project Lazarus *cough*) and it's been done before with both Wynne and Kristoff. I can understand why you might not like it but at least they made an effort to have it make sense.

Edited typo

There's a HUGE difference here.

Importing a dead warden into Awakening was YOUR choice.  There was no reason for Bioware to explain something you chose to do.

Getting a - potentially - dead Anders in DA2 is not our choice.  So, there should be an explanation.

Well, hold on a second.  I never knew Wynne or Kristoff before they died and were resurrected by their respective spirits.

I did know Anders.  And I may have gotten an epilogue slide saying he died at Vigil's Keep surrounded by dead Darkspawn (getting the slide depends on choices you make).

So yes, they should explain that.

So in a way that's a big personality change, as the elements people complained about most in Anders may be gone, but at the same time it's not too much, because it doesn't mean his charm and such are gone. I think when Gaider said he'll change, he meant that Anders will change the way that well... real people change, but with Justice's obvious influence it seems, of course.

Aww, but Anders being a coward was one of his most interesting qualities. You don't get a lot of those in heroic groups, what with everyone all gung-ho and ready to march towards certain death.

Ok.

explanation off the top of my head...

You don't watch Ander's get hanged, you just see him get taken away by the Templars. He could escape!!

I've heard he's good at that.

Edit: To not put ANY explanation for what happened was Bioware's choice.
In all honesty, I would have been happy with even a feeble one.
In the meantime, I'll just have to keep believeing that Leiliana prayed to the Maker until He brought me back.

Just a word of caution:

Until you see the official reveal, don't assume that Anders is what you think he is-- or that he's the same person from DAO:A. People change.

That said: yay, Anders! :wizard:

Out of curiousity, how will this work out if you had him killed off? Not that I did personally, but for those who did.

I know I'm late to the party but I just read the spoiler...OMG! I was happy to see Anders back and interested to see how he'd changed, but now I am genuinely excited! I really, really, hope it's true because I LOVED Justice! ^_^
