I prefer uniformity to using resources trying to please everyone and Anders getting a smaller role because of it.

I personally like seeing player choice displayed as often as possible, but I understand it'd probably be easier to have just one Anders/Justice for everyone. Either one is good. ^_^

I like choices until they turn the game into a convoluted mess and plot suffers for the sake of sorting out all of the resulting variables. Good luck to them with ME3, is all I can say.

Gaider said they had no problem retconning character deaths if they wanted to bring a character back, so now it seems clear he was referring to Anders. I really doubt they would have different dialogue for "Anders that you let live in Awakening" and "Anders that died in Awakening".

They're just going to say "Nope, Anders lived through Awakening and was a Grey Warden, no matter what happened in your game".

Anders is back eh? Well i always did like that mage when he and oghren were having a battle of witty humor.

Anders: "You don't actually think your jokes are funny, do you?"

Oghren: "Could have sworn that fly was buzzing again."

Anders: "HAR! Let me tell you about my life in one word!" (Belches)

Oghren: "Oh no! Don't take me back to the tower! I'm far, far too delicate!"

Anders: "I'm not only a dwarf, I'm a moron! Listen to me fart!"

Oghren: "Oh no, big templar man! What are you going to do with that sword?"

Anders: "Eww."

Oghren: "Don't play with fire unless you want to get burned, son."

I assume this is the case as well.

However, never hurts to speculate.

Meh...Wish we had all the characters from Origins returning in some way or another, though.

Given that Anders looks remarkably healthy in those pictures when it's probably a couple of months after Vigil's Keep (at least!), I'd be more inclined to believe that he's very much alive. Conversations between Justice and Nathaniel made it clear that the possessed body continues to decay.

Since mages can enter the Fade lucidly when they dream, perhaps he voluntarily sought out Justice and made some sort of deal with him. Or perhaps he isn't actually aware that Justice has taken an interest in him until he finds out about his Tranquil friend. Perhaps he 'blacks out' when Justice takes over, leaving him with no idea what just happened.

Either way, I don't believe that he's dead.

Just a word of caution:

Until you see the official reveal, don't assume that Anders is what you think he is-- or that he's the same person from DAO:A. People change.

That said: yay, Anders! :wizard:

OH MY GODDDDDDDDD
WHAT DID YOU GUYS DO TO MY BELOVED ANDERS???????????????????

That'd be cool. Any of them, in fact. I personally dislike the idea of having just Justice with no Anders, so I'm hoping that he's alive in there somehow no matter what.

Okay, since it's such an obvious question I'd assumed that someone must have mentioned it, but I hesitate to read through 30 pages of posts so here it goes and don't yell at me for repeating:

Could Anders have died in Awakening? If you don't conscript him does he die? If you leave him at the Virgil's Keep while saving Aramanthine, could he also die there?

Yes.

Maybe. He might have escaped.

Depends if you had the vigils keep properly defended. If no, then Anders bites the dust.

Actually, the keep doesnt even need all the defences. You just need to abandon Amaranthine and protect the keep to keep him alive. I ended up doing that since i forgot one upgrade for the soldiers that was unretrievable after i remembered.

Anders is there as well. It's implied in the article that you don't know about the other thing until you've been with him for quite some time.

I wonder who the last of the companions we can pick up are? By every indication, they all come pretty early.

I have a quick question I wanted to throw out there, well two actually:

1) Who is the writer for Anders' character? (I am guessing David Gaider but I am not sure)

2) If I don't upload my Awakening save do you think the default option for DA2 will be that Anders is dead or just possessed? I just wonder what everyone's speculation is.

Thanks!

You are incorrect, but you'll have to wait and see what the details are.

I think the order goes something like this:

Bethany/Carver > Varric > Aveline (possibly?) > Anders > Isabela

Not sure where Fenris, Merrill, and Sebastian fit into it yet though, but possibly after Isabela. Then there's the potential of a secret companion we should consider, who would likely be the very last.

I actually hope it is Justice possessing Anders and they there will be conversations between the two. The possibilities of hilarious conversations between the two while in the same body are practically endless.

Ooh! Hopefully that means that if he's dead in some playthroughs he stays dead in DA2, so people who don't like him don't have to groan he's forced on them, like Oghren.

My guess is,Anders is not a Grey Warden in DA2.He may have been given to the templars by the Grey Commander. Then he could just have escaped them.

Didn't know you could just up and leave the Grey Wardens, thought that there would be some heavy repercussions for even trying to leave after knowing about some Grey Warden "secrets" like the Joining ritual. I know some people who aren't Grey Wardens already know what the Joining ritual is, but the point is not to let the masses know, which could negatively impact the GW's ranks if the common man did find out. Would it mean Anders might potentially be hunted by other GWs or being carefully observed, I think it just rediculous that Anders could just leave the GW and they not do anything afterwards

Well seeing as how you upload the saves from Origins that should only be the case fi you actually gave him to the the templars.

Also just because he became a Grey Warden doesn't mean he has to stay with the other Grey Wardens all the time.
