Yeah me too, anders was pretty awesome in Awakening. Still, it would be kinda wierd if he just 'shows up' if he died in my Awakening import.... I"m hoping they'll have somekind of replacement for him in that case.

I assume there will be some sort of explanation. Though I think I remember reading Ser Gaider say that the writers didn't really take the epilogue as set-in-stone, and weren't above bringing a character back who the player thought to be dead.

DID he die in your Awakening game? Just curious.

I just started my fifth playthrough, and I think he's just going to be that character that I simply can't let die, even if it directly contradicts what my character would normally do. I just like him too much, personally. I had that problem with Alistair, too; never could allow him to die, or be banished, even if it's what my character would do, because I just couldn't bring myself as the player to do it.

Anyway, back on topic again, so if the rumor is true that he's the first companion you meet, does everyone think he'll disappear for six months or so while Awakening is happening and then come back to Kirkwall again after that? I was really surprised when I read this rumor because I thought for sure it was Isabella that we'd meet first. Well, besides our family members, of course.

So I have a question..if Anders is the m/m option, what does everyone think? Did he just not bring it up in Awakenings? Was he trying to hit on Nathan at all? Is it just perhaps something he assumes people will take badly so doesn't bring it up?

To be honest...I'm not sure I like this at all. Now, before any rabid fangirls decide to turn me into pancake-ish mush, let me explain.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked Anders, I still do. He was funny to talk to, and it was cool to have a character that you could actually give something else to talk to other than yourself (sure, it was a cat, but it only added some well-needed cuteness *is very fond of cats personally* :3), and his interactions with the other companions (IE most of his dialogue) were funny and interesting. That's just it, though; he fit well with the other Awakening companions (I daresay all of them fit well together), had good chemistry with them. What concerns me is that it'll be impossible to replicate that with the DA2 companions, since he wasn't designed for that game (could be wrong on that one, I guess, can't know how long BW's wanted to have him come back).

Also, am I the only one concerned that this will render everything the warden(-commander) did with him in awakening amount to nothing because of this? That, even if you became best friends with him, he'll still run away and join Hawke instead? There's probably going to be a good reason for it, I know, but it still just gives me the impression that it makes the warden look even more insignificant and Hawke so much more important (note that I have nothing against having Hawke as the new protagonist at all, except that he's a human - and not because I hate playing as them, but because the first game pretty much established that 99% of all humans in the DAverse are greedy/selfish/sadistic/grumpy; it's hard sometimes to feel sympathy for such people).

Heh, looking back, this was probably quite some people's reaction to Oghren's return in Awakening (which I didn't mind, because his screentime in DAO was so little (usually) that I felt he deserved more), but somehow, bringing Anders back feels different to me. Maybe I felt he had enough resolution in awakening, despite how short the game was.

*phew* Now that that's over with, you may proceed to turn me into a mushy pancake, if you still wish :3

Edit; [SPOILER!] Also, this thing about him possessed by a spirit of Justice doesn't help too much, I'm afraid. It just sounds like an attempt to mix Wynne with Justice. Of course, it's very possible it'll be mind-blowingly interesting (if, for example, if Justice from Awakening is the same spirit of Justice inhabiting Anders, but that they inhabit it together in a sort of symbiosis, sharing control of it, complete with their conflicting personalities - that would be very cool. Just my opinion so far. [END SPOILER!]
