Can somebody please tell me if Oghren can die in Origins.  I have been scratching my head about this topic for a while and my head is bleeding because Anders was just annouced for DA][.

Yes...and No. If you get his approval low enough in Origins you can kill him..but he still turns up in Awakenings. I'm told he says something about being knocked out.

The rule is if they want to bring someone back, they will....

Edit - my personal rule for in game deaths - if there's no decap they're not dead.

I'm guessing it's pretty difficult to actually get his approval that low (without the Feastday pranks, at least) considering you generally get him late-game and he doesn't seem to disapprove of much.

He and Morrigan were the only companions not to have a plot-featured possible death.

It's really easy to get his approval low, actually. Just keep asking him to leave then changing your mind and telling him to stay. You get disapproval each time. This also works for some other companions (such as Zevran).

Morrigan is the only one you can't kill. Even if you stab her in the heart. ;)

There are only a few characters you can kill, otherwise they just leave or are defeated by you(Not killed)

- Kill List -

Dog (Only for non Human Nobles, Kill him in Ostagar)

Wynn (Either Kill her in the Tower or Defile the Sacred Ashes then kill her)

Shale (Kill her by siding with Branka at the anvil of the Void)

Sten (Leave him in the cage in Lothering)

Leilana (Leave her in Lothering or kill her after defiling the sacred ashes)

Lohgaine (Kill at Landsmeet)

Alistair (Have him Executed at landsmeet)

Zevran (Kill him when you meet him or when he betrays you in Denerim)

Morrigan cant die, Ohgren cant die.

Why would you kill him anyways? Ohgren is funny and the first character I go get after the events in the opening of the game.

Actually, Oghren can be killed if you get approval low enough and you get into a fight with him. But I've never got his approval that low.

It's also possible for him to die in Awakening if his approval is low, you don't do his personal quest (or never get his approval high enough to trigger it) and you leave him at the keep and defend Amaranthine. However, I've never managed to trigger that ending. He is remarkably hard to kill, in fact.

The Dog isn't necessarily killed, you can get him on RtO and when you travel to Lothering, though this might be dependent on whether you do the flower quest for him or not.

Sten, you can leave him in the cage or he'll question your leadership and attack you if you take him to Haven, forcing you to kill him if you can't intimidate or persuade him to stand down.

Oghren can't die. Oghren is god.

Does anyone have a YT of Oghren going down in Origins (and possibly his reaction in Awakening)?

The problem with your comment is, you never actualy tried some of those and are just going by what you heard/read.

As long as your not a Human Noble, you get a option to permanetely kill Dog when you first meet him. (When your asked to Muzzle him)
Sten is "Assumed Dead" if you leave him in the cage in Lothering. Thats the best your going to get. In Haven you can get Sten to fight you, but you do not kill him. He tries to take over as leader and you defeat him in combat and can then ask him to leave or get back in line and ressume his role in the party. You cant kill Sten during this event.

I agree though, Ohgren is awesome. I dont understand the Hate for him from some people?  He also has some great lines if you go outta your way and get him first. Including some hidden ones if you bring Ohgren to the Mages Tower(Dwarves dont enter the Fade, for example) and this experince carries over to Awakening with hidden dialog if hes in your party in the Fade in the Swamp.

I forgot about the muzzling of the Dog, my bad.
My game must have glitched then, because he keeled over and didn't get back up, though I immediately reloaded and intimidated him into getting back in line.

I love bringing Oghren to the Circle Tower, he has some great jokes.

Indeed, I was annoyed when I couldnt kill Sten in haven myself. I played a pure evil Game that Had me kill everyone but Morrigan, Ohgren and Lohgaine. I think I made Loghaine take one for the team with the Archdemon.

Well, if not all those gargle blasters and drunken bouts have killed him, why would our PC do any better? Posted Image

Hmm, shouldn't that have left you with only Loghain and Oghren at the time for the final battle then? Unless you did the Dark Ritual...

@ Dark Specie

I always do the Dark Ritual since it so conviently opens up a large plot device for future Dragon Age games.
