1. It was alluded that we will be seeing "more complex" enemies in ME3. Come to think about it "more complex" can possibly mean that they will have even more legs or arms (or whatever) we can shoot and destroy to destabilize them or dismember (or something like this) AND still they stand (or not) and fight. I can of course imagine complex organic lifeforms -- like bugs or some sh** like this -- but mostly when one thinks "complex" one thinks synthetic.
2. We also already know that there HAS TO BE something we can shoot -- some kind of ground troops for the Reapers. In ME1 we had them poor Gethies; in ME2 them freaky Collectors. I don't really believe we will be shooting husks (or more freaky bugs) for the entire ME3; nor I believe we will be seeing any of the known races as our "main antagonist race". (Some people speculated about batarians and even yahg -- but for couple of reasons it seems ridiculous, especially them yahg).

SO!
There is a simple alternative. Either we will be fighting a lot of mercenaries or whatever the quest to gain some help from some faction demands us to fight OR those mentioned "more complex enemies" are some kind of ground troops for the Reapers. (Because if only bosses are more complex in ME3, I'll take this promise as not fulfilled; they are already complex in ME2.)

What do you think?

I think they meant "more complex" in terms of "more stages to the battle." ME2's boss fights were fairly typical. Shoot, hide, wait for enemy to shoot, repeat until dead. Even the final battle was little more than that.

However, if you look at LotSB's boss battle, it was much more complex. Multiple layers of defenses had to be taken down, you had to come out of hiding, and it was simply more than having enough ammo to obliterate everything in sight.

Of course, there's nothing saying that the Reapers can't use both mercenaries and other ground troops. We know they're not afraid to manipulate organics and pit us against each other, so the Batarians may very well be involved - especially since they're an enemy of humanity at the moment.

We also know know that there are multiple types of Husks, so they'll be mixed in for-sure.

The wild card is whether or not they'll pull something out of their bag of tricks to fight us with. Since the Reapers are what they are, they could - conceivably - recreate several thousand species from the Galaxy's past to fight us with.

Well. The way I see it there's a slight difference between more complex battles and more complex enemies. More complex battles are just what you said they are -- and we had them in LotSB, just as you said also. But more complex enemies -- I take it as they meant enemies with multiple parts that you can shoot off to disable their abilities. (Like, for example: shooting off those mech's legs in ME2.)

I can see batarians involved in the main quest the way I mentioned it -- as the enemies you have to shoot to gain help from some faction. But not as your main enemy-type. They simply doesn't stick. (They are ugly and are just what they are, one of the races we already know, and not the most powerful one; and clearly not powerful enough to compete with any of the Council races.)

I have a question along this line...

If reapers have weaponry that allows a single reaper to wipe out a whole fleet, then why would the reaper armada need dedicated ground troops?

ShadowLord: to secure people for harvesting. And holding planets from strike teams.
