And to end on a typical bad note, I really hope those visuals were on lower settings. Even with the bad video quality I can still tell that the textures look noticably worse than they did in those last few screenshots.
And seeing the Rock Wraith phase into the ground was pretty bad-looking.

In fact, now I want trench coat DLC so I can make Hawke look like Gambit from the X-Men.

Not happy to see MageHawke going all ninja with his staff.
If they wanted to speed up the combat, it seems they got their wish. Personally, I think it's too fast - the animations, that is. But, hey . . .I know everyone is going to disagree.

Mage looks great, though I am slightly annoyed at how fast hawke's life went down. 2 shades and he was almost dead...does not bode well for a mostly mage party. We saw the mabari hound and chain lightning as well as the staff combos in game that look very nice. No oomph responses that I could see however, no enemies suddenly falling due to a loss of consciousness from a blow to the head or anything.

Damn, I really should stop reading the forums until the game releases. I mean, Anders being in the game wasn't that much of a secret but it makes me wonder if February is gonna be full of spoilerific info that will ruin my DA2 experience.
There's really not much a reason to read the forums pre-release other than for spoilers of one sort or another. Considering all the spoiled info though is supposed to be stuff that happens very early in the game, I doubt it'll "ruin" the game for anybody... about as much as knowing you'll become a Grey Warden in DAO.

Might have something to do with the fact that he's engaged in melee combat, swinging his staff instead of flinging spells.
Did mages forget how to stand in the corner and let warriors go the dirty work?

Now you see, that particular encarnation of hawke was the rare and elusive "Leeroy Jenkins Hawke" that is currently on the endangered list.TJPags wrote...

Similar to the stronger and more physically active "derpy hawke", the "Leeroy Jenkins Hawke" fights very aggresively. Unlike it's stronger cousin however, the "Leeroy jenkins Hawke's" frail body cannot support the type of vigor normally displayed in this fighting style.

I thought the combat with the wraith there looked kind of dull, though that's probably at least party because the party has three ranged characters who are just standing still. I hope it moves around and changes forms and has special attacks though... and doesn't just stand and swing swing swing. I believe it's about to do something special there at the end when it breaks apart.
Sorry, I just can't stand that stuff. It reeks of lazyness. They should at least have dirt fly up or something.

Yeah, at least with the mages, I'm not crazy about the style of the actual animation, but I can live with that. The issue I have is that they're doing that animation over and over and over so fast that it looks like they're hopped up on haste potions while someone is fast forwarding. And so even if you have a cool animation, they're performing them so fast that you can't clearly see what they're doing and the net effect for me is that combat ends up looking very boring as they just spam the same animation over and over, too fast to appreciate whats going on.
