It looks like Anders' new chin could mine ore. Just sayin'.

Hmmm, yeah, it was more square and his cheeks were slightly fuller in DAA.   I hope they fix that.  Also, why are you guys referring to him as Janders?  Where are you folks getting this information?

So does he come back to life? because he did die in one of my playthrough's.

Maybe Ser Pounce-a-lot revived him? :wizard:

This is what I'm thinking.

Alright so useless comic relief character is returning....I am disappoint.
Mage looks great, though I am slightly annoyed at how fast hawke's life went down. 2 shades and he was almost dead...does not bode well for a mostly mage party. We saw the mabari hound and chain lightning as well as the staff combos in game that look very nice. No oomph responses that I could see however, no enemies suddenly falling due to a loss of consciousness from a blow to the head or anything.

Might have something to do with the fact that he's engaged in melee combat, swinging his staff instead of flinging spells.

Did mages forget how to stand in the corner and let warriors go the dirty work?

In Origins, my mage was doing the dirty work, flinging spells while smacking fools with his shield and stabbing them in the face.

Did anyone else feel that the lip syncing was somewhat odd?

Yes. I'm hoping thats just the video/sound being out of sync

First thought upon looking at the article's picture: ALIENDERS!

I was never a huge fan of his in Awakening, didn't seem very original to me. But this screenshot... it looks like... things have changed, something has happened to him... I like. DA2 has no room for ordinary companions.

Yeah, it probably was. It was pretty decent in Origins, so I'm not worried about a downgrade in this one

Just an observation: we have new gameplay, a character reveal, an achievement list, and a new IGN preview. It appears that February has indeed begun (for DA2 fans, anyway).

Thanks for the link.

Read the article at grey wardens.  Wow, major spoiler don't read if you don't want to know.  Wow.  I loved Anders in Awakenings he was my favorite DAA companion.  I'm glad to see him back and I'll be interested in finding out more about him.  I thought DAA lacked information on him from the beginning.   Thanks Bioware, I'm looking forward to this.

In Origins, your mage could be an Arcane Warrior.

There is no such specialization in DA2.

Yes, I hope that wasn't true and pounce is along as well.  DA without pounce, so it isn't so.

I thought the combat with the wraith there looked kind of dull, though that's probably at least party because the party has three ranged characters who are just standing still. I hope it moves around and changes forms and has special attacks though... and doesn't just stand and swing swing swing. I believe it's about to do something special there at the end when it breaks apart.

... And phases straight into the ground like a ghost.

Sorry, I just can't stand that stuff. It reeks of lazyness. They should at least have dirt fly up or something.

Yeah, and its swings are aiming way above the people it's swinging at... you can get a better look at this in the IGN preview. Feels kind of sloppy.

Nonetheless I feel I should qualify all of this negativity by saying I still think the combat is looking pretty good overall.

I don't mind speeding up weapon swings but overall combat looks just a bit too fast to me.

i REALLy like the mage staff combat. It looks awesome. Kinda reminds me of morrigan in the sacred ashes trailer. And it seems elemental type staves have their own animations too which is awesome too.

And chain lightning and tempest look sweet! With the improvised spell animations i cant wait to see rock armor stonefist and petrify!

I may have to reconsider my first playthrough class after this vid. Look at that mage go! Thats one staff spinning, spell casting bad motherflipper.
