"I don't know if it's slavery, the Geth aren't really people; They are just machines."
A machine lacks sentience, and sapience. A machine cannot feel, a machine cannot think as a human, or render judgement. A machine does not take a piece of your N7 armor and graft it on to him, a machine does not express remorse through taking care of the quarian homeworld, a machine does not reject a "god" in order to self-determinate. A machine and the Geth have little to do with each other. Maybe a mobile platform is just a machine to you, but in it resides a sapient, and sentient being. This qualifies it as something greater than a simple machine the quarians created.
The quarians no longer own the right to a sapient species, they have forfeited that right 300 years ago, and by continuing to live in the past will be destined to repeat the mistakes of the past. Unfortunately the quarians have not grown up, they cannot move beyond their own prejudices, their own hurt feelings at being defeated by the Geth. This is why the Geth are just machines to quarians, it makes their own hatreds and prejudices easier to follow. The quarians are the weak race, the master who condones slavery and extermination, and somehow thinks they were a wronged party when the galaxy at large knows better.
Edited for my own quoting fail.
