Question: Does it HAVE to be a pairing?



'cuz I can totally see Jacob and Mordin going away at Samara in the Science Lab while Mordin sings another variant of 'Gilbert and Sullivan' in the process.

What I would really like to see is Bioware design a number of squadmate/squadmate, squadmate/crew, and crew/crew romances/friendships/conflicts. The gimmick would be that you'd only get a few per playthrough, and which ones played out would be either random, or based on abstract conditions (like who gets left on the ship most often or something).

That way each playthrough might have different characters developing their own romances or issues with other characters regardless of Shepards choices. There would probably have to be a set number of unique situations available due to time and budget, but the cool part would be that you wouldn't know which ones you will see on that playthrough until they start developing.

Anyway, just my idea. I like when squadmates have their own stuff going on.

I think nonShepard pairings on the normandy are good, it's betterthan everyone just being a recluse at their stations and not cairing about the people they fight alondside.

More seriously than that... probably no one. None of the characters really 'connect': most have various reasons for not working out.



That said, on the other hand, had they met years ago, someone as stable, patient, and moral as Kaiden (or Jacob?) could have been what Jack needed.

Before you grab the pitch-forks, lemme explain my reasoning. They're both fiercely loyal to their employers, both have a distrust of aliens (Not hatred, just the viewpoint that humanity should be friendly but sleep with a knife under our pillow just in case) and I just see it working, oddly enough.



Also, Tali/Kasumi. If only for the "OMG! SQUEEE!" factor.

Besides the blatantly obvious, like Ken and Donally, it's really hard to pair anyone not least because of how limited the character interactions with eachother are. That was one area ME1 had ME2 beat pants down.



I've seen various attempts at various novelty pairings, but two stick in my mind: a Garrus-Ashley oneshot during ME1, and and Thane-Jack piece, which was actually well done (even if plot-wise it really was just the two of them doing eachother's loyalty mission).

I would have to say Joker and EDI LOL they fight like they are already married or EDI and Legion, Jacob and Samara, The two crew down in engineering , Jack and Zaeed, Miranda and Kelly The Doctor and Mordin.

Infinite ups to Ken and Gaby getting together, those crazy kids have been through so much together.



I think Jacob and Kasumi could work. I'm for it. Thief and Corsair, go fall in love.



I think Miranda and Kaidan could work, and there would be fireworks. I'm for it. Miranda has to be an L2 herself, right? And he's a genuinely good man, something she's never really seen before.



I don't think there's really anyone for Joker, though they could add someone for him. Maybe if EDI gets an Overlord-style hybrid consciousness, and a nifty android body (that looks like Tricia Helfer). Or Kelly.



Jack is a mess, I don't know who could really sort her baggage and not somehow die in the process other than Shepard. Maybe a new character? Maybe a krogan? I got nothin'.



Dr. Chakwas is a confirmed spinster, and more power to her. Same goes for Samara. These ladies don't need no love from no mens/womens/aliens.



Mordin is a salarian, and they don't cotton to that messy hormonal crap, bless 'em.



Thane is also pretty resolutely solitary if Shepard doesn't get inside his head. I can't imagine anyone else on the Normandy having that affect on Thane.



Tali will fall into derpy lovegoo at the drop of a helmet, so yeah, marry her off to the nearest volus. Actually I would love to see her end up with Kal'Reeger, because Reeger seems to be a rather unique specimen: an actual quarian badass.



Garrus is a gruff old git with a chip on his shoulder and no real place in society except on the Normandy. Would he 'go alien' with anyone but Shepard? Dunno, but I bet an asari could turn his head, though probably not Liara or Samara. Aria maybe.



Zaeed is literally insane with rage. He isn't anywhere near in the right headspace to have feelings for someone. I kinda get a vibe from Z that he likes his own kind, so maybe Big Ben sniper dude?



Grunt is a krogan. I got nothin'.



Ashley is a big question mark. The only guy besides ManShep that I could ever see her with is Kaidan, and we all know that ain't gonna happen.

Let's see:



(1) Miranda / Kaidan is a quite obvious pairing. They're both very compatible in personality but there would be clashes over their allegiance. Definitely story material. But in my games, only if Shepard is a woman.



(2) Tali/ Kal'Reegar. For reasons already mentioned. Once Tali's over the fact Shepard won't have her, I can see her become attracted to Kal'Reegar. They'd also make a pretty badass battle couple.



(3) Kenneth / Gabby. They're an item already. I'm not really sure their relationship dynamics should change, but there's definitely romance potential.



(4) Jacob / Ashley. If there's anyone for Ashley, it's Jacob. Clash potential over Cerberus, but Jacob's attitude is pretty straightforward and wouldn't be incompatible. He's also one who would take her fire in stride. Not quite sure if it work long-term, but stranger things have happened.



(5) Zaeed / Jack. Not exactly a romance, but I can see them work together on a permanent basis and develop a friendship after the SM. "Rage is a hell of an anaesthetic" and "I operate on instinct", that goes well together.



That's about it. All of the others are solitary or wouldn't think on these things for quite some time.

It's a great idea it would certainly make the ship seem more organic. Although the repurcusions could be quite bad in some cases.



I always wanted to fix Miranda and Jacob up because they both creep me out as potential partners so should be a good match.

What the heck? Miranda belongs to Shepard only

Zaeed/Samara because they're both wise and old.

Tali/Mordin because they ramble and talk funny, would be cute to hear them argue.

Miranda/Joker because somehow I remember Chuck and it's nice seeing the class clown with the ice queen but restricted to banter only. Shep and Miranda are my canon couple heehee.
