I'd say that side-quest with all the spawning husks. Not really that husks scare me so much, it just seemed that they kept jumping out of nowhere on top of me.

As for Overlord, I literally gasped for air of pure scaredness when the obsenely loud voice of david first comes on. I got a little less scared the next time it happened, then realized I had to play the volume at several notches below normal to compensate for the deafening (Unintelligible) sounds of david.

Of course after playing it a few times, everything he says is something along the lines of "please make it stop"

Overlord DLC by far. First there's this, which makes me feel like my seat cushion is a hedgehog.

Agreed.  Overlord scared me to death.  I would jump everytime evil green face popped up on my screen and shouted at me.  So, so, so, creepy, but fun.  Not to mention that creepy machine at the end and the first time I did it, I was too slow and EDI went all evil.  Yea, I side eyeing her after that.

?How? Did Tricia Helfer put on her Kerrigan voice? I should deliberately play slow just to see what happens!

Edit: I actually found it here:
www.youtube.com/watch

I interpret that as David murdering (erasing) EDI and taking over. EDI is good, cute AI. ^_^

Can I say this is why games should take longer to develop?  This would have been a beautiful consequence to have to endure when you go back to the Normandy.  Can you imagine the crew on the Normandy talking about ship wide malfunctions before you figured out what happened?  That alone could have easily allowed the Collectors to get the drop on you when installing the IFF.  It's a shame. :(

Husk Ship and Husk Mine. Especially Husk Mine because they put the Husk noises (especially that new screech of theirs) into the ambient music making it sound like they're on top of you even when they're not :o

ME2: Overlord. Especially Prometheus Station (the Geth ship.) Or the elevator sequence. Or... argh. The whole thing. Second place is the Derelict Reaper of course.

ME1: The Rachni-infested freighter. When you are trying to escape, the Rachni appear from nowhere, scared the crap out of me.

Collector ship because nothing happens. Once you get something to shoot , you tend to focus on that. So empty areas tend to be more creepy.

In ME2? nothing was really that scary in ME2 a few mission where a little unnerving
1. Overlord, Especially when you start to figure out what David is actually saying.
2 Joker mission
3. Collector ship up until the trap. Spent the entire time wondering when they would hit.

Off topic: generally I find things are creepier in video games when you can’t fight anything even if they are not doing much to you rather than the shoot and kill style “horror” games you seem to get allot of. That’s why Amnesia is scary and why even after all this time I still remember my first time playing thru the haunted mansion level in VTM:B. Graphics where crap but holy hell that scared the **** out of me...uh I mean na I totally wasn't afraid. I ain't no wuss. SHUT UP!!!!

Quite a few candidates:

(1) Derelict Reaper
Not so much for the enemies which were bad enough but for the mood together with the information conveyed by the logs. By far the most convincing portrayal of what we're really up against. For the same reason, it's also my favorite plot mission including the SM (whose presentation is nonetheless unsurpassed in its epicness).

(2) Overlord
Reminds me of System Shock (the 1994 original). Not accidentally I think. That elevator scene is creepy, as is the "Shepard's getting hacked" scenario, implausible as it appears. Or he has more cybernetic parts than we suspect. Makes me think he might be taken over by a Reaper in ME3. That thought makes it even more creepy.

(3) ME1 - UNC: Derelict Freighter
Yes, the one with the Husks popping out of nowhere. Creeps me out every time. Basically anything with Husks is creepy, but this one beats every other one in ME1. Its ME2 equivalent is N7: Abandoned Mine. Not quite as creepy, though.

I haven't played Overlord yet. Now I don't know if I want to.... lol

If Freedom's Progress scares you, Overlord will be the equivalent of watching The Ring. The ending is of course, the best part. Frankly, no offense intended but I am surprised by your avvy if you spook this easily.

Anyhow, nothing in either game would warrant the term "creepy" by my standards. The mission with continual wave of Husks and Overlord are about the closest one could attribute being frightening. Granted, I am making comparisons with games like F.E.A.R and Dead Space, which put Mass Effect to absolute shame on the horror aspect. Considering this is not the Survivor Horror genre, the missions are adequate. Still, I feel something more could be added to truly install a sense of fear.

ME2: Project Overlord: Who the f*ck would ever do that to an autistic person? Sick, sick, sick.

While morally deplorable, Dr. Archer's intentions were for the benefit of the galaxy. I often ponder whether people's opinion would have differed had we not witnessed the horrific state David was in. Nevertheless, I cannot respect his work nor his methods due to the extremities. I can however, agree with the overall purpose, in spite of the risks.

Freedom's Progress didn't scare me, it creeped me out. Something creeping me out is something that grosses me out or makes me uncomfortable as opposed to "AHHH! OMG OMG OMG! CRAP CRAP CRAP! RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNN!!!" The only thing that actually scared me in this game was facing down those annoying-as-hell Praetorians.

Ironically, I found Dead Space to be as boring as a cardboard sandwich

Aye, touche. I have a friend who claims she is crept out by aliens and this usually results in screaming and crying. So you will forgive my relating the two.

Dead Space in particular horrifies her. Personally, I found it tries too hard and is more cringe-worthy than frightening. Vomit does not equate to creepy. >.>

Then there's the inanimate Geth Prime at the beginning of Hermes Station. Totally creepy, because it looks like a crucifix - as if the *robot* is struggling, suffering. David's random screams are scary at first, but quickly becomes simply startling and annoyingly loud.

Collector Ship is a distant second.

The Thorian on Feros didn't scare me at all. It grossed me out a little, but I was mostly delighted/excited like Grunt facing the Thresher Maw: "Hell yeah! We're gonna kill something BIG today!"

I played Overlord for the first time yesterday in fact. What creeped me out the most was the fact that David could "hack" Shepard via cybernetic implants. Imagine what Harbinger could do? Was nobody else concearned about this?

I'd have to say it was Overlord and it still creeps me out that on other runs of ME2 I've not actually completed it.

The derelict Reaper doesn't creep me out I'm just walking through waiting for something to jump out at me.

There was one assignment in ME1 where a shipment of Thorian creepers were used as workpower and after Feros it became like dawn of the dead.

The derelict ships in ME1 as mentioned before like the geth-ified ship and the psycho girlfriend were nice shockers, due to the closed up structure of the place.

ME2... Overlord is good the first time round. I'd just let loose the assault rifle in every turn. gunfire do drown out fear like nothing else. :P

I found Horizon more eerie than Freedom's progress... but well... to each their own i guess.

Also, the Derelict Reaper sure is nice cos the build up of that sense of hopelessness from the logs was excellent.

creepiest mission was fem shep trying to hit on jacob.

"i just want to talk for a bit herp derp lets shag!"

srsly, probably jacob's loyalty mission for me. collector missions weren't really a surprise, i knew i'd be shooting collectors and husks. but for jacob's mission, i had no clue what happened to jacob's dad and his crew until we started meeting people and piecing it together.

overlord for me

i have a phobia of AIs and robots ever since watching superman 4 (i think) where the machines take that woman inside and slap her face with microchips. so hearing that voice come over the radio thing like "RAWRAWRAWR MAKE IT STOP" i almost cried and had to turn the sound down and only played it while my mate was in the room

im 26...

i always save that mission to the end :(

OMG! I saw that scene as a small kid and it too scarred me for years, the face of that woman gave me creeps and nightmares for years! Though this has little to do with why I also keep Overlord creepiest mission out there, the general atmosphere is just intense and frightening, I LOVE IT!

Otherwise, no other mission gives me the creeps in ME2, except  seeing that woman liquified makes me squirm a bit. I am too desensitized to blood and already-dead bodies, absolutely no emotion except if there are kids involved. Seeing someone tortured and dying violently however... :crying:

Overlord, overlord and overlord.

The sound work on that DLC was phenomenal. Prometheus station before the geth activate was really creepy.

I was more creeped out at the heartless monstrosities Cerberus is capable of than David himself. I felt real anger and sorrow for him (good writing). No one deserves that, especially when it was perpetrated by your own brother.

Not really a shocker after what they did to Jack and all those kids they killed to make sure they never accidently killed her.

Nah, the shocker was that his brother not only allowed it but encouraged it and he was begging him to stop. Jack and Colony of the Dead (ME1) were also bad.

Derelict Reaper and the Normandy Crash Site are the only 2 creepy missions albeit for 2 different reasons.
