Overpowered though she may have been, Tela>Leng.

Too bad we'll never find out who's the better fighter.
It could've been epic fight similar to Wrex vs. Aleena.

Bioware should've done something similar to Project Overlord.

Shepard goes solo one-on-one with Vasir. that would've been Epic!
Spectre vs. Spectre

Don't get me wrong, I (as Shepard) trust Liara with my life.  However, I'm going to be extra-careful about not pissing her off, and as soon as signs of crazy starts sneaking back in, I'm heading for the hills.  She's the best friend you could ever have and potentially your most dangerous enemy.

I don't think she'll ever be a major villain, though.  Mostly because she kind of fails at the whole evil thing.

ON TOPIC: Dead squadmates, eh?  Enjoy a far more empty universe.

I don't get it. People act like ME1 has no bearing on ME2. True there is very little visually to differentiate the Paragon/Renegade universe. But the conversations and attitudes of the people indicate things are very different. Most Aliens for example aren't real happy with Renegade Shepard or Humans in general. Either way yes the galactic government is the same, though this shouldn't be a big surprise. A human lead council still has to be reasonable and co-operate with the other species. Things likely wouldn't radically change, besides a few formalities. Only difference is instead of a douche Turian politician you have douche human politician: Udina.

I started a game recently where I went with default Shepard instead of importing. I can't stand it. It especially feels out of place if you're trying to play a Paragon Shepard. It's like Shepard did everything in the most stupid way possible. Udina is Head Councillor, Wrex is dead. I mean it's interesting to see the difference, but having played with default Shepard and seen all this, it makes all of ME1's carry-over decisions seem a lot more worthwhile. I know most people don't think much of the cameos, but I enjoy them even if they are a bit contrived. It just adds to the game to know that your Shepard had some effect on things even if they are very small. I think people had grand delusions that there'd be entirely different quests. A few more would have been nice, but for the most part it was pretty reasonable.

That said I think we'll likely see bigger differences in ME3 since that is the end of the series. ME2 is sort of just building up to that. In ME3 I'm sure we'll see much fuller reprecussions for Shepard's actions, and likely drastically different outcomes. Though I wouldn't expect the resolution to be drastically different. There'll probably be pretty unique endings, maybe Shepard lives in some, but dies in others. Still at the end of the day the ME universe will have to continue on the same regardless of how good or bad Shepard was.

Basically I expect ME3 to follow suit of ME1 and ME2. Do you spare the giant Space Baby controlling the Reapers or do you kill it? In before: "OMG giant Space Baby is Deus Ex Machinima!!!11 ME3 story sucks! Dragon Age in space would have been so much better!"

Liara is one bad cycle from being a Yandere for Shepard.

(And for people upset about the link, there's a link for that.)

And then she suddenly wanted it bad.

Shepard: It will be nice to have access to intel I can trust...Broker.

Liara: I'm not sure I'm ready to be called that. I'm not sure about any of this, but we had to do it. We need the resources for the fight against the Reapers.

Yes, clearly.

I think Liara is still a Cerberus agent and Feron is quite the schemer.

It would be hilarious if some people thought they were rid of Cerberus only to find out their blue friend was working for Cerberus and thus so was Shepard.

It seems like something TIM would do. Make you think your not helping him only to realize that you're doing his bidding

Then I would do the same thing to her as I would do if Ashely betrayed me, tie her to a nuke and kick it out the cargo bay of the Normandy.

Not yet, but she's got the potential.  And the desire was there.

All I'm saying is that, out of all of Shep's old pals, Liara is the hardest to predict.

Definitely gonna wait and see on this one.

I'd say the hardest to predict is Kaidan, mostly because I'm not 100% certain whether he still has a real personality. Liara, though, doesn't frighten me; we most definitely love each other and are committed to battling the Reapers, and as such, I have no intention of being a threat to her network. I mean, why would I?

Lulz.  Poor Kaidan.  He barely had much of a personality in the first place, and the rest is quickly frolicking away...

Naw.  We can count on Kaidan to be loyal to the Alliance and "do the right thing" and all that.  And feel guilty about Horizon.  It won't be particularly exciting, but it'll be Kaidan (if not, I'll shoot the writers).

Anyway, Xil, you are correct in saying that Liara is comitted to the fight and will undoubtedly still love Shepard.  But that's my point precisely--she'll be hell on anyone stupid enough to betray her.  Hence why I plan on being cautious, since I have a penchant for bad decision-making.

You won't betray her because your Shep loves her.  I won't betray her because I'm afraid of what might happen if I do (plus betrayal is a dick move in general).

Well, I don't anticipate her being happy if I outright betray her, no. But... that's the case for everyone and everything; Liara's only a threat because she has a lot of power.

And vengeful.  She was going to take on the friggin' Shadow Broker by herself out of a desire for revenge.

She ain't no cupcake, that's for sure.

I doubt there'll be an option to kidnap and torture a friend of hers for two more years.

Listen.  If I spent two years doing everything I could to help out the person I loved, only to see him take off with some tart, intentionally undermine my new career, and outright screw over me and the rest of the people I cared about, I'd kick him in the balls.

Liara will flay you alive.  With her mind.

It's great that you trust her, but don't underestimate her.  Ever.

Personally, I think Liara will be the showrunner either way, because no matter what you do, Shepard walks away from TIM with an entire cell of his agents (minus n where n=number of people lost on the suicide mission). Because Righty likes to keep Lefty on a need-to-know basis in Cerberus, Information processing didn't get the memo until after the Suicide Mission, unwittingly giving Shepard a backer for the next game. Even if he got the Spectre status back, I'm not sure there's a reason for him to be on the Council's leash again (which seems to be oddly tight for the agents who need to do the Council's dirty work). If the question is whether Liara will betray you, I refer you to a quote after both of the ones mentioned above:

Liara says:
"But I've got a purpose - Helping you defeat the Reapers. That will keep me honest."

This suggests that as long as you fight the Reapers, she will too.  And after... It depends on how she views you and your actions.  If she loves and/or trusts you to any degree, she'll keep you on as advisor and special Shadow Broker agent like her predecessor did with Vasir.  If not... Then either you've been a complete dick to everyone, in which case she can make a mint auctioning the right to kill you, or you've only been a dick to her, in which case she can chuck you in the brig and have the rest of her loyal agents guard you 24/7 so that your secrets can't get out.  Info-shock cage a la Feron not required.

Edit: does anyone know how to format a quote? Sorry, I'm new.

Edit Edit: nvm
