Is Hawke "pre-defined"?
Define "pre-defined", so far we can cuztomize everything about Hawke except his race, he's human no matter what.

We cannot define his voice. We cannot define his facial expression. we cannot define his body language. We cannot define his mood. We cannot define his behavior. We cannot define his personality. We don't know where's he now and what he's doing. We don't know what and how he's about to say given the chosen paraphrase.ViSeirA wrote...

We don't know if he's even alive at the moment.

Woah, you possess some radical notions m8, You could not define the warden's voice because he didn't have one, some pre-determined battle cries don't qualify as voice.
The warden didn't have any facial experession, period, nor did he have any body language.
You can define Hawke's mood and behavior based on your choices in-game, if my Hawke is feeling sarcastic then he'll pick sarcastic options in dialogue, if he's feeling generous maybe he'll choose to help this woman escaping the darkspawn and so on.
We can define Hawke's personality, that's what the game is all about, we know where he'll end up, how he got there and how he did is all for us to DEFINE.

But that's not how I picture myself. I've seen how Hawke speak to his brother regarding who's in charge. I don't smirk my face to my brother nor do I speak in commanding tone.ViSeirA wrote...

How he got there. That's true.
But his personality? I disagree. I don't express myself in the same way Hawke or Shepard does. I have high respect for my siblings and I would never threat them as my military squad. I compromise a lot, I talk gently and I don't like giving order. I expect my companions to be able to take care of themselves and not become a burden. Which is why I prefer Sten early in the game compare to Alistair. Also I prefer neutral stand than choosing sides in the case of rivalry. In Mass Effect 2, that would mean I have to max my paragon or renegade when in real life I don't have to.
That's my character.
Sorry about the radical notion. It's not my intention
Edit: I miss the quote's bracket

And how does that qualify as defining him? I for one could never have given my warden an imaginary voice because he/she and for lack of a better terms seemed like a "mute", instead Bioware this time chose to give the hero a real voice... they didn't remove any choice we had because it didn't exist in the first place.

Which is why there are other choices in regards to that situation, one of them is paraphrased as "You're right, but settle down." and the other is "This isn't helping", take your pick because I'm sure at least one of the three options will give you the tone the resembles you the most, and again how is this any different than Origins? if you tell my that you choices didn't dictate any particular tone because there was no voice I'll tell you that you already imagined a tone in your head, or didn't you?

Which is why the game is all about choices, when Mike commented about siblings in the last dev diary he said and I quote "will we see rivalry? yes, will we see jealousy? yes? will we see genuine affection? yes" and that means that depending on your views and the way you treat them, how is that in any way less "defining" than Origins?

Because in Origins there are always clear choices for agree, disagree or neutral, instead of, just paragon vs renegade things in Mass Effect 2. It's just not my mentality to judge things as simple black and white or evil and good.
But I guess you are right. I was blinded by the paraphrase system to see them clearly. I was comparing Mass Effect 2's paragon vs renegade choices too much when there're more to it in Dragon Age 2 ( And they should be ). I didn't aware there're option for, "You're right, but settle down." and "This isn't helping", in Hawke's scene who's in charge.
Thanks for clarifying for me.
Edit: I edit the quote because it become too long.

the paraphrasing system is a huge improvement over the mass effect one you have different tones instead of just choosing one and hoping it has the tone you want,it has for example sarcastic, diplomatic, make your companion attack, good, bad, flirty etc..Sacred_Fantasy wrote...

Did I mention that we will be giving away Dragon Age 2 swag during the chat? We have some cool swag, like t-shirts and lithographs, we'll be giving away during the live chat. But you must be asking questions for a chance to win!

Thank you very much kind sir.
It is very similar to last years ME2 chat, which I really loved.
One more question Mr. Priestly: Will you be waving at us like last year please?

Do we still have a chance if our questions are not picked for Mike to answer. I could always use a new DA2 shirt.
