Really, how?

"The spire rose impossibly out of Lake Calenhad, the impressive remnants of the old Imperial Highway still leading out to it even though boats were required to actually reach the tower today."
From one of the Dragon Age books by Davig Gaider.

There's no teleportation spell available to the player, but there may be artifacts that allow teleportation. But why teleport when you can ride a ferry?
Are you sure? I know the devs have said that there's no teleportation in the world.
Nope, not sure at all. I was just hedging.

No. Wait. Wrong game. Sorry
Seriously though, ferry-boats and such sounds logical. And for wanting magic, the ferrier (sp? Could be farrier?) could use magic to power the boat.

Ferry-man/ferry-woman? I dunno. A farrier is someone who shoes horses though, and I don't think 'ferrier' is a real word.
Anyway, when I go to the tower I just swim. It breaks up the monotony of casting spells all day.

Nonsense. They don't let you leave the tower at all, what with your magic of mass destruction and whatnot.

Don't even fix a price!
Don't pay the ferryman
Until he gets you to the other side

Yeah, try that nowadays and you won't be riding the ferry at all, might even get arrested by homeland security... which is ok, 'cause like I said, I like to swim to the tower. One of the dolphins in the bay is my friend. He brings me fish.

Too kewl. Thanks for the brainworm.
And there's the boat on the river
And when the rain came down
He heard a wild dog howl
There were voices in the night - "Don't do it!"
Voices out of sight - "Don't do it!
Too many men have failed before

Seems obvious enough. There are things in the game that may teleport you around, but you don't get a teleport spell. Lots of hames do this.

Yes, it would be obvious enough what she was getting at if she was someone who hasn't been following DA lore closely, and someone in that same situation could take the post at face value, but it's Maria, and given this post, there must be something she's getting at that I'm not aware of. But no, it's not obvious enough.

There is no teleportation in the Dragon Age setting. It doesn't have anything to do with mechanics or what's in the game. When they were creating the setting, they basicly sat down and decided "How does magic work in Thedas? What restrictions are there? What can it do?".MrGOH wrote...

And teleportation was one of the "can nots". Read it in an article long, long, long, long, looong ago, so don't even think of asking for sources.
