I liked in Origins that two hand weapons seemed to be actually heavy. There was a slowness and weight to it. But here we have a guy who uses a huge mace just like he would use a dagger. Horrible. I couldn't even watch the whole video because it just looked so bad. Is there even a class which combat moves don't look, you know, stupid?
thing is, a 2 handed weapon is designed for the weight to add to the speed and momentum of attacks.
if you're swinging a 2handed weapon slowly, you're doing it wrong.

I didn't but Sten and Oghren and anyone else in Origins did and it looked right, not like someone using a broomstick as we have it here.

it looked off to me. too slow as if they've never picked that kind of weapon before.
i agree that in DA2 looks a bit too fast but that's more favorable to me than the ones in origins

Let me guess, maybe because you want to see EXACTLY what you figured already?

that looks like garbage. absolute garbage. The skill tree's look cluttered, that interface is dog crap.
S**t for greeks was holy, mind's garbage of a genius is much better than very seldom "ecstatic findings" of mediocre people. Please, let we remain on facts instead on trying to judge something you clearly have no idea about, want we?
As for the interface you can not like the look of it but from a technical/artistic pow is perfectly fine. As always if you don't have the knowledge to judge a thing fairly just don't do it because you only make a fool of yourself.
Suron wrote...
And the combat? great job speeding it up! too bad it looks janky as hell and is EXACTLY how those of us you told to "wait and see" DID NOT WANT..
The fact that you didn't want to see it doesn't necessarily mean it is not good, quite the contrary in the majority of cases, in fact. As for "speeding up" there's nothing wrong with it, in general. Again, lack of knowledge of what is being talked about ftw.

Another "original" pun? Then the *others* are mentally challenged, isn't it?

I love it and you can bet all you want that I'm 100th times more intelligent than you. Either if you will reincarnate another 25 times probably I will still be more intelligent than you.
Problem is not intelligence, but bias. You just want to see what you like to see, that's all. You don't judge the thing objectively, and this, my friend, is stupidity.

and Fenris? Hawke and Fenris? wow just give us some water-themed name and we can finish your Might Morphin Power Rangers team.
I highly doubt you can understand the etimology of words, so don't try to look as you know something about it, please. You have not the slightest clue of what you are talking about. If you want to talk of something and insist on having a point about it then at the least inform yourself a little better.

Fine, nothing to say about it. If you don't try to judge the game in an objective manner being obviously unable of doing it then there's nothing wrong.
It was a good try till it lasted...

There is some truth in that, tho-handed swords can be elegant in combat, especially if one utilises unsharpened part of the blade between hilt and (if we are talking about zweihander, for example) small horns. That allows to swing two handed sword like a staff.if you're swinging a 2handed weapon slowly, you're doing it wrong
However, it does't mean that weapon is entirely *weightless*, and from the look at DA2, it seems so.
For me, two-handed fighting with Haste spell looked almost perfect in DA:O. Just the right speed.
But, hey, we have a maul with an ending size of a pumped on steroids watermellon and two-bladed star-trek or something like "butterfly" daggers, so you can pretty much forget everything you saw and/or experienced visiting historic fests.

This is how fighting with a claymore actually looks, without even magical effects and materials in the mix. It's slower than a dagger, sure, but it's hardly anywhere as slow as in origins.
If two-handed weapons were that slow in combat, the wielders wouldn't stand a chance. It's a case of Reality is Unrealistic. Which, of course, it isn't.

Graphics looked decent enough imo, although I prefer context to a pretty wrapping anyway so probably a little biased on that.Environment looked pretty bland though, but perhaps a creepy underground thaig isnt supposed to look like a marketplace anyway.Hopefully the places actually supposed to look like one have a little more life to them.
The warrior animations went a little bit into the feather weapon territory, although its still somewhat better than the 2h animations in DAO,which to me looked like it was a peasant doing the wielding rather than an accomplished warrior.
A definite improvement in the mage animations though, looks more like an actual bolt of arcane energy or whatnot compared to the DAOs funny coloured bubble coming from your staff.
The new female animations:a major improvement from DAO.
Hawke asking Bethany about the strange creature ->pretty cool!
Its on fire, its made out of rock and its on fire...So lets punch it in the face!Uh yeah, lets not<_<.Although I suppose the punch fulfilled its purpose of bringing more flare into the conversation.Still,I do not want to see my mage punching burning piles of rock...punching them just isnt something a self respecting mage should be caught doing afterall
Overall looks pretty good, cant wait for march 11th.

Well the combat difficulty looks pretty decent for casual/normal.About same as DAO from what I could tell, except your melee party members indeed spend less time looking confused and more time actually fighting when youre not controlling them. The faster pace combined with the pretty huge range of aoe skills seems like it might make nightmare a bit more, well, nightmarish than on DAO.

it could be different for each class. a warrior punches, a rogue stabs with knife or throws bomb. a mage could throw a fireball or an ice spell.

I played DA:O on PC, and loved it, and I pre-ordered DA2 on PC. But I would like to try the more direct control that the console seems to have...is that offered on PC? Is PC only click and command ala DA:O? Can you do either - or?

I hope DA2 can show me 1 or 2 conversations where the paraphrased wheel does work, to prove that it's possible. So far, I've only seen failures.
That aside, at least the combat system does seem to resemble enough things from origins - although I would like to see Nightmare on video.

I was hoping for some clarification on controls, and this video answered some of my questions. On the console Mike said that you press a button and the character swings the weapon. He said that the PC version is more tactical, click and issue commands like DA:O. Then he said (at 2:05 or so in the video), "The controls are identical between the two platforms." did he say controls 'aren't' identical?

They are both identical mostly, Mike didnt mean that clicking square for example will trigger combos or something like it would in an action game.

so, what exactly where you expecting? Or rather, what wouldn't you have seen as a failure? In my book "let's kill it" should start a fight. So i expect Hawke to say or do something along those lines. Punching the rock in the face was definitely unexpected and right along those lines. If i come across something like that ingame, hopefully i'll remember to pause (the game, that is), otherwise my party is going to die because i'm down on the floor laughing.

A) You never played Origins
