This should shut up all the doom sayers. It still looks like Dragon Age to me but new and improved. I don't see why they had to make the start menu look like the Mass Effect one but still, the gameplay looks good and the RPG elements look great. I'm looking forward to it.
Maybe that´s the reason. ME2 is more popular (or at least it is considered so, I thought it had made more noise but sold relatively less). However this seems more from a SF game than from a fantasy one. Can´t help thinking the art/design team was given too much free reign. I understand they want to have a distinctive look, but looks alone arent going to make the game feeling more distinctive. I think DA:O was inspired by A Song of Fire & Ice among others, here I can´t tell the inspiration. There´s anime, but the Sword & Sorcery anime I´ve watched is more consistent.

And I thought the devs said that characters wouldn't have there arms straight at their sides all the time now. That non-speaking characters would do more gestures and such. It was in one of the 2 dev diary topics.
And the Rock Wraiths... Why doesn't the spectral part of them animate? It looks pretty bad to see that part of them stiller than the stones that surround them. And seeing it turn robotically without moving its legs when it approached Hawke was terrible, too.
You'd never see this stuff in ME2...

I found the interviewing guy pretty funny, like:
Mike: Yeah, and we really wanted to improve the lighting so tha-
Interviewer: OH MY GOD, MONSTERS! Kill them!
And you're a legend for the "Enchantment! Enchantment?" bit! But did the interviewer get the reference?

One of the abilities was hard to read, but I finally got it paused just right.

The class specializations was probably the biggest thing for me... I had been informed/ was under the impression that each class only had three specializations... correct me if im wrong but it looked like Warrior alone had Weapon and Shield, Two Handed, Vanguard, Defender, Warmonger, and one more. That's pretty impressive. And what they seem to be saying is that you can mix and match abilities from those. Which sounds awesome.
It also had Templar and Reaver, with one blacked out. BLAST THEM AND THEIR MOCKING OF US!!!
And then Chris posts that new thread with new Warrior information.

Dissapointed by the deep roads, very bland, where are the dwarven carvings, the texture quality looked bad also but I will put that down to the video itself for now, I still don't like the blocky UI, it looks primitive, something that would have been seen in games 5 years ago.
Here's hoping the story fills the gap, because so far the graphics are failing in my opinion.
mike laidlaw explained that in the video
this particular thaig is "wrong" as there is no dwarven statues and decorations.
Decorations aside, it is a very clean thaig. No giant dirt piles anywhere. Perhaps the lack of darkspawn taint clinging to everything also makes the city very barren.
Time to re-write the falcon punch lyrics.
