Oh, the ability web system looks almost ideal!

Yeah Giantbomb rocks. I even watch quicklooks for games I hate or have no intention of ever touching, just to listen to them talk about it. It's like my weekly comedy show, only its not.

Yes! I was hoping and praying Vinny would be interviewing or at least be making some surreal commentary by a stroke of mad luck, but alas.

As a Giant Bomb Yearly paying subscriber I can tell you that downloading and watching this in HD was a fun time indeed.

So what you're saying is that it wasn't a Thaig? It was the Meat Dimension? (Persona 4 Endurance Run rages on)

Charlie Tunoku Hawke would be an ice mage, casting bufu, forever.

Back on topic, I absolutely love the level design. I blocked out the subtitles for the Rock Wraith with my hand so I don't know 100% what was going on there, but it sure looked pretty.

So, has it already been noted that the bars and character portraits fade out and disappear once you're out of combat? 'Cause. . .awesome. Hopefully it's like this on PC as well.

That is one ugly game.
Looks kind of like sims. Not in the game play of course, but in the art direction.

That is a cool feature.  I've done plenty of gripping about some of the changes, but there have been plenty of little tweeks like this that just make me giddy with excitment.

I love Giantbomb, thanks for playing the game for them Mike.

My worries about the battle system are dead now, It just looks like a faster Dao .

I noticed that Fenris got kind of stuck and glitched out a bit at one point, a similar thing happened to me in the first dragon age every once in a while, it seems it was never caught/fixed, but it isn't really that annoying come to think of it.
I just hope it won't happen more than in the first game and it was just bad luck.

That scene where Hawke punched the demon definitely needed him groaning afterword though, punching rocks hurts.

Excellent video. The more videos and updates I see the more I look forward to the game. I also like how Mike Laidlaw can seem enthusiastic without crossing over into scary Peter Molyneaux territory.

@RitaChe : its been stated by a Dev the 'fade out with not in combat' is a Console only feature. However its a variant on the PC base one where they have a key to hide it. Not sure if toggling on/off will auto-make it show up in combat or if you have to manually do it your self each time though. But there is a toggle. Plus I think PC interface gets less in the way as its shoved more to the corners then console.

Bioware still hasn't quite mastered the idea that consoles still run off resolutions like everything else out there, or I dunno, a GUI side 'safe zone' bar sliders like some games use. COD, for instance uses a 2 'safe zone' sliders in the options menu to let you shove the GUI as far to the edges as you want. I get not all TV's follow exactly, but monitors are quite frankly, more vairied and the differences in TV sizes (even between countries) arn't vast enough to require the large margins they seem to use.

I only wish Bethany wasn't Hawke's sister. She's the only attractive female npc in the game and she won't be romancible (nor should she being a sister and all). But thanks for the video Mike.

I agree with those saying the environment looked bland and sterile. But the characters themselves looked good, and I liked the dialog system.

The PC footage looks a lot better than the console version still. The same environments look much better in IGN's preview.

... Not that the console version doesn't look better than Origins did.

Just watched the quick look. And damn... the combat looks so cheesy and horrible. I liked the slow movements in DA1, they looked realistic and satisfying to some degree. But these animations make the game look like a god of war game with rpg elements. I just knew it... taking away the real rpg like they did with Mass Effect 2 and turning it into an action game with lots of story. Good for the masses I guess, but I am sad.

The interviewer, while clearly interested in the game ("kill that thing!"), sounded humorously monotone. Loved the interview. Nice to see some of the talked about mechanics in action, the ability trees looked spiff, Good job, Mike.

The quicklook is a 'video'. Even the people look blurry. The IGN preview is screenshots. Big difference. Will PC look better? Yeah definitly but people where saying the PC looked horrible due to a 'video' and ignoring screenshots... up till some nicer screenshots came out with more colors. Then another video came out and people where complaining it looked plane and plastic. Wish people would stop judging graphics from videos, its just a bad idea. Details blur together so everything will look like a solid colored surface.

Everything looks.. questionable. Game level lacks anything for eye to catch on, all again blocks with some weak lightning. Combat, while was made faster, have lost smoothness and floweness.. reminds of 3D cartoons like Penguins of Madagascar.. their battle moves are torned and unpro. Shepard-punch looked really unnatural for DA game, I felt dejavu. The worst is, however, interface, it's too ascetic, like ascetism was a forced thing, not a design feature, and non-ergonomic. You want to read about some skills? Open this window, push on stats, choose skills, choose a skill tree, push here.. I am really afraid of that boxes-thingie in the corner, too, which only seems to give access to 3-6 skills at a time, and all that radial stuff.. but maybe it's just a console thing, and on PC I would get something decent.
On the other hand, game seems to help player understand it more - it's clearer what stats and skills do, and game tips look pretty helpful. That's actually the first thing I am glad to have and a step forward from DA:O.

Seriously Bio? Funny how you keep telling those skeptical to "wait and see" but...oh look..it's EXACTLY what we figured you were doing.

that looks like garbage. absolute garbage. The skill tree's look cluttered, that interface is dog crap. And the combat? great job speeding it up! too bad it looks janky as hell and is EXACTLY how those of us you told to "wait and see" DID NOT WANT..

welcome to Diablo Age II.

But grats catering to the BOOMHEADSHOT LIVE mentally challenged crowd. Sure they'll love it.

and Fenris? Hawke and Fenris?  wow just give us some water-themed name and we can finish your Might Morphin Power Rangers team.

Alistair
Hawke
Duncan
Leliana
Flemeth
Fenris
Oghren
Zevran

can you spot the two names that don't effin FIT in with those? why are you going with this stupid naming crap?? Hawke and Fenris?? Do we have a Wolverine also? How about a Raven?? C'MON POWER RANGERS GO GO GO GO

words can't begin to convey the absolute DISGUST I see in this game.

how the mighty have fallen.

Have fun with this BioArts. What effin garbage.

lol u mad, bro? :P

Edit: DAMMIT!! Beaten to it. <_<

It's hilarious how much simple aesthetic changes can dramatically change people's views. The game works and plays exactly the same as DAO, yet people actually think it's anything at all like God of War? Have you PLAYED God of War, or any action game? The ignorance of some people is shocking.
