 Hello,

This is more a request, and an easy one probably. I have little faith that any Bioware employee would pick this up, but still, let me try; after all, good developers do read some requests :)

Could you please add direct shortcuts to access to the Codex/Journal/Squad screen ?
Why ?
- Mass effect 1 PC had these shortcuts (o for codex, j for journal, u for squad...fine by me); why not ME2 ? (other company did the port, I guess)
- Journal and Codex are constantly updated, and each time we have to go through Escape > selection of the menu, click, instead of one single tap on a key. From a user interface point of view, this is akward.

I understand that every patch, even minor, means going through a internal testing phase, maybe a non-regression test, but this is a very simple and legitimate request which could make playing ME2 on PC even more enjoyable.

Thanks in advance

We've been complaining about this since launch and so far Bioware has never commented on this issue. There's also no ini tweak to fix this, unfortunately.

BioWare made the PC version of ME2. It's quite shocking to think the company behind Dragon Age would leave out shortcuts, but it's an entirely different team. The only other western RPG I can think of without menu shortcuts is Fallout 3.

I spent about 3 days solid combing through various files, trying different things to see if I could create hotkeys for them, based on the commands for hotkeys in ME1. Needless to say, I was unsuccessful.

Okay, this looks bad...
Well, Bioware is, with Blizzard, my favorite dev. I still have hope they will do it.

But the realistic part of me thinks they prefer to have a single dev trunk and that they won't bother having an extra version for pc, or for any other console. I really don't get it. We're talking making a branch with a simple fix, quick internal testing, and then it's ok. Or they put out an modified ini, and it's up to us to edit it, so they don't have to edit the interface for it.

I suppose we should keep showing our interest for such a patch, by keeping this topic "alive". I really hope someone from Bioware can at least explain why they don't seem to bother. Looks like there is an iron curtain between the forums and the guys developping these games.
When you consider that these guys are going to tackle WoW with the new Kotor and yet they can't even reach out to the community on one of their most popular game, you begin to think they still have a lot of work ahead, "community-wise"

Man I know exactly what you mean! I also always find myself letting my team do more of the combat than me because of ammo. There are improvements from the first one, but a lot of downfalls.
