The combat speed in that video looks the way it is suppose to look. In the gameplay video on gamespot, the combat speed looked too fast

Thanks for the link.
Sadly the video doesn't really show much of what the classes are really about, at least to me. It's more like someone was showing off their After Effects video skills than showcasing the gameplay. I guess it was more to target new potential DA 2 players than cater to DA:O fans? Flashy clips, some of which were likely scripted, spliced together with alot of bloodspray isn't much more than visual fastfood.

with a mage, u do about as much damage as a warrior's melee attack from what I have seen in gameplay videos

Probably half the people on this forum were just complaining days ago.
Not me Bioware! I've been a firm believer from the beginning!

Rogues for LIFE!
I always play a rogue/thief first... Perhaps on my second playthrough I'll give the mage a go...

Shield and sword warrior.
That is what I will go with in time, I always play a warrior but I think for my first go around I will be a mage, seems like some cool spell effects and I have not used one as my main in sometime. I might just go with a..........Morrigan Hawke, I like that name, seems to reminde me of somone....but the one I know is Morrigan Cousland now, hehe.

So Hawke was a mage in the Destiny trailer?
I was wondering the same thing. Or is that kind of magic going to be tied to blood/innate ability? I tend to steer clear of the forums (I don't like too much info before playing so a game unfolds as I play
And with no archer class for my standard female character, definitely warrior and for once I'm gonna play a dude!

You know... this seems like it would have been the perfect trailer to show FemHawke and/or character creation. The whole 'Choose Your Champion' line is perfect for advertising that you can make your own Hawke in more ways then just choosing class.
There's nothing wrong with default Hawke BUT these are selling points that the marketing seems ashamed of in Bioware's latest games. I know people who didn't buy Mass Effect because they just didn't know it was possible to play as anything other then Sheploo.
Other then that, it's nice to see a bit more of the battle animations.

No. Trailer Hawke is just a Blood Mage.

So, won't be playing a Warrior this time around, as I'm a dual-weilder all the way... but then, I hate those... things... the rogue is using. I'd rather my character use butter knives.
*sigh* Hopefully we'll have access to less shockingly impractical blades in the game.
Mage looks bad@55 though...

Mage for me first. I love using my hands to throw fireballs. Too cool. My second playthrough will be rogue. I love being a rogue.

I played DA:O through about ten times and only ONCE did I play a warrior, everytime else I played as a mage. Not because they were the most powerful class but simply because I always play magelike characters with robes and spells.

Nice, nice, maybe I'll have a male warrior for once. In DA:O, my warriors & rogues are all girls (cos as a guy, I dig tough women wearing heavy armour and kicking butt - my HNF rogue wears Wade's Superior Dragonbone).

Check out the new Dragon Age 2 Champion Trailer.
Play as a Warrior, Mage or Rogue. Choose YOUR champion for Dragon Age 2!
(Me personally, warrior all the way!)
Arcane warrior Mage runs over to Warrior group and yells "yeah boy" and casts stone fist to join in with the fist bump, looks at the blood and gore caused by the spell and backs away slowly......
