I'm a fan of having two mages in my party at any given time, and of chilling with the guys. I tend to be more fond of male companions than female.(Not just because some of them may be romanceable either.)

Considering I'll be playing Mage first;

1. Carver for tanking.
2. Anders for healing.
3. Isabella for unlocking and melee damage.

That would be the technical formation. My preferred one (based solely on the characters themselves, and not their skills), would probably switch Isabella with Varric/Sebastian/Fenris.

Really torn between those last two, though. Guess it'll come down to whose personality I prefer the most.

1. Bethany/Carver (depending on what I play and how big of an ass Carver is)
2. Isabela (as my Rogue and LI.)
3. Depending on the mission but probobly Varric or Anders.

Isabela or Varric will will always be in my party unless I play as a rogue. Isabela might get replaced sometimes if I really need Varric and could use another Warrior/Mage.
Ill try to use Aveline, Merrill, Sebastian and Fenris during some quests but knowing how I played Origins it won't be that much.

Male Warrior Hawke:

2. Isabela
3. Varric

Rogue Lady Hawke:

1. Anders
2. Aveline
3. Isabela

Well this shows you how high my intelligence was today. I completely forgot about the whole brother/sister depending on which class you are. Yep that concludes it's Anders then.

My opinion keeps changing, I don't think I'll know until I get a feel for the new combat. But right now I'm thinking my mage Hawke will bring...

I don't intend to use Merrill or Isabela that much, if at all. If I want to alternate my rogue I'll take Varric and I'll already have two mages with Hawke and Anders.
