Ah, the heart of the matter.  I put this a few pages back, but in case you missed it:

I assume the point you were ultimately making is that people
blindly threw around labels for Varric and Aveline in much the same way some fans are blindly throwing around the word "cannibalism".  But I fail to see how doing so in return to Anders is going to enrich anyone's
experience of DA2.

The situation is far more nuanced than simply throwing around the word "cannibalism", especially since the very definition of the word implies something habitual and it is almost certainly not in this case.

On another note, I wonder if we'll have a chance to "harden" Anders (or something similar), like we were able to with Alistair or Leliana. For instance, one option could reinforce the chantry/templar/circle-hate with the side effect of strengthening Vengeance, while the other could put Anders' control and humanity above all else? It'd be an interesting thing to see, at least.

Whhhat?  Whatever happens with other character's can stay there. Leave the dirty laundry by the door thanks. I think we've explained more then enough why a dark Anders is interesting and not let's say repulsive. It might be for you, fine, no one here is forcing you to adore Anders.

I think I know how you feel--that short Anders story inspired me to actually begin writing fanfiction. Involving the aftermath of said scene. >.> I have literally never done this before.

I don't see why I'd be bitter.  I didn't really have a rooting interest in any LI with the possible exception of Isabela, and she's been confirmed for ages.  If you think my reading into your (as in the thread) possible motivations behind glossing over the short story isn't based on much of anything, and honestly it isn't, then what is the accusation of "bitterness" based upon?

I implore you to not take this personally.  I am discussing a video game character, just like you guys.  Furthermore, back in my initial post on the subject I said quite clearly I did not understand the position and then later said my guess was that it was because it was cute funny Anders.  I brought it up because I wanted to have it explained and people are.  Why is this upsetting?  Why assume I am upset?  The responses are just what I wanted.

And just as a general point regarding fanthreads: This thread, and others like it, are not meant solely for entirely positive discussion and collective embracing of a character.  If it were this would be the Pro-Anders thread, and there would be an Anti-Anders thread for criticism.  There is not.  Raising doubts about a character is not trolling, nor is it off topic, nor is it rude.  This is what this thread is for.

No, you are not.

Given the mages' apparent proclivities and the nature of the Circle of Magi as a prison, I wonder if they were given "rabbit food" in an attempt to tame their magical abilities (in much the same way as people like Dr Kellogg prescribed bland, tasteless food to stop people, ah, pleasuring themselves). I just can't imagine anyone actually living a "pie-less existence".

Addressing the current topic at hand: the whole cannibalism thing with Anders doesn't actually... concern me. Don't get me wrong, V!Anders going apes*** and murdering a crowd of Templars and priests is a valid concern I have, and the fact that Anders could very well become a monster that I would have to hunt down and kill if there was no other option has not escaped me. It's just... cannibalism is just a non-issue at this point, ya know?

HAWKE: Anders, you have gone too far!
ANDERS: Was it that I melted that Templar's face off?
HAWKE: No, worse.
ANDERS: Murdered the entire priesthood in Kirkwall?
HAWKE: No, Anders. Even worse.
ANDERS: It's because I'm an abomination, isn't it.
HAWKE: No, Anders. This is unforgivable.
ANDERS: ... Forgot to clean the litterbox again?
HAWKE: No! You ate people.
