You are accusing the people in this thread of being shallow and disliking other characters without cause, which tends to make people get defensive.  I'm still confused about what your goal is here.  Do you want to just come out and tell us who we should be discussing and looking forward to?  It would save us all some time, because that seems to be where you're headed.

You can discuss something without putting words into the oppositions mouth -- as you said, you guessed that some were just dismissing his cannibalism because he's cute, funny Anders, and that some also dismissed other positive qualities of other characters when that happened very little on this thread, as this thread is Anders-centric.  We are quite aware that this thread is meant for the discussion of Anders, but you came off as being bitter to me by bringing up the issue of the other characters' positive traits being glossed over.  They have nothing to do with our approval of Anders.

But I could have been wrong.  And I apologize for that.   Who said you were trolling?

I guess you have your answers now?

Err, not to be a killjoy but I think he honestly did come here to discuss Anders. The problem is that the written word can be **** at conveying proper intent/emotion and people assumed he was trolling by bringing up the eating-people thing. I think.

My goal was to hear what people had to seriously say about the implications short story.  I'm not sure how else to do that other than by asking honest questions and giving honest impressions.  Otherwise I would be trolling.

Hey, maybe! It's kind of long-ish, though, and not close to being done (I did just start it yesterday...) so probably not on this thread. If I ever finish it and deem it worthy, I'll probably keep people posted.

I didn't say that people said that.  I said that was my impression.  If I was going to put words in this thread's mouth I would have worded it much differently.

And in bringing it up, I was attempting to discover if they did.  Whether you think it comes off as bitter or not, the fact that Anders is a previous companion, and a known good looking funny guy is relevant.  Just as if it would be relevant to peoples' interpretation of Twilight if Edward Cullen looked like Garry Shandling.

Our culture right now is kinda of obsessed with the sexy monster and ladies everywhere all want a chance to either redeem or join them; Twilight, True Blood, Being Human ect.. Anders fits.

Someone asked if those stories had been written especially for the romance reveal and I wanted to respond that we were so in for a ride with Anders if they were. Skull****ery is a much more elegant way to put it.

@Upsettingshorts I will admit that it is my Anders fangirlism that is getting me past that story. I think that he is inherently good and might have been taken advantage of by Justice, who was looking for a foothold and a way to further his cause. I can also tell myself that the creature that ate flesh was not Anders-shaped or Anders-minded. Obviously, it will take lots and lots of mental gymnastics to completely reconcile my opinions of him from Awakening with what has happened to him since and it might never happen. Still, I'm intrigued by his character in a way I wasn't expecting to be and I am totally ready for the skull****ing.

I still blame Lee for sucking the personality out of Dee when they got together.  So that may cause some prejudice when reading posts too.

Personally, I am interested in all the companions, but more interested in Anders because I already know him.  And what I know makes me want to help him.  I'm sure I'll want to help the others too, in whatever their personal quests are, but so far, his is the most defined.  So posting here and discussing Anders' situation makes sense for me.
