Yeah, that is true.

Either way, it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

I feel kind of bad for all of the Hawke's that romance Anders. You get this guy with demonic possession issues and then after you resolve him of that, you STILL have the taint to (probably) deal with. Since according to Gaider Anders is going to be a Grey Warden no matter what.

Another thing I just thought of. They're making a big deal about how these relationships will span an entire decade. I think that precludes them from making one available only in the last few years, doesn't it?

Did Gaider say he was going to -be- a Warden no matter what, or he was going to join the Wardens no matter what? I'm still hoping for the slim chance that Justice healed the taint... :?

It was confirmed he'll join the Wardens in this thread. Just a different bunch.

And yeah, you're right about that other bit. I hadn't thought of that.

Sophia Dryden's body survived centuries while being possessed. I'm not entirely sure if that is reliable because I'm not sure if her body was still living by then. For another example, Avernus used magic to delay the effects of the taint for a long time. I think having a Spirit possess you can probably delay the taint's effects at least.

Point.  Still, though, there's "everyone gets hit 97 times before they fall down" game mechanics, and there's "omg he caaaaan't be kiiiiillleeeeeeed" plot mechanics, and the story was definitely the latter.

Yeah, i'm just not really expecting that to convert into anything game breaking Posted Image  It may be similar to Wynne's self-resurrection ability in terms of utility, if it's anything at all.

Ok so I want to know why several people are judging the whole Anders drinking blood thing. He is not really a cannibal it says that the blood splashed in his mouth. True it says that it tasted like Honeyed Wine but I am thinking that it didn't "literally" mean that was the way the blood tasted to him I think it was saying something more along the lines of "Revenge is Sweet." As a writer I have written many things that didnt mean exactly what they said; However, I am not perfect nor do I claim to be the best at writing. I could be wrong I did not write the story but it should be taken into consideration that no matter how terrible or violent or morbid the act, it isn't really Anders committing the act. The demon that possesses him takes over during it. It even seems that after the fact Anders didn't seem to know or realize what he had just done; hence, it is sade to assume that he wasn't in control at that point. That is why he ran to heal at the hospice to try and get a handle on things, to try and keep himself in control. Anyway, that is how I interpret the story but as true with any poem or book they are hardly ever interpreted the same. I just wanted to express my opinion and maybe give others a different view of the story.

read it again -  he looks at the dead bodies - the torn and eaten flesh. That's what they're referring to not the blood drinking.

Soooo if the possession does NOT prolong his life at the end of Dragon Age 2, he will only have about 20 years left to live?

I really don't think what Anders did in the story was actually cannibalism. I think it was more or less like when Justice took over in the story he was almost like an animal. How do animals fight? Well the ones I’m thinking of rip things apart by biting and clawing. When Justice (now Vengeance) took over he basically became an animalistic monster and therefore fought like one.

The blood thing? Well theres just no arguing that it went in his mouth and he thought it tasted nice, but I think that was a J/V thought instead of one of Anders’. At the end of the story Anders is “back in control” and is disgusted with what he sees so I really don’t think he wanted to bite/eat anyone.

I may be wrong and to be honest even if I am I still don’t think Anders is a cannibal, J/V is the cannibal, it just sucks for Anders that J/V is using his body to eat people with.

To be completely honest even if Anders was running around eating people while he was in control, I don't think I'd care as long as he wasn't trying to eat me or my friends. Maybe I'm a messed up person, but I gotta say my favorite perk in Fallout is the cannibal one and some of my favorite people in the game is The Family (for thoses who don't know The Family is a group of cannibals). Of course in RL it would be different, but it's a game so I don't really care.

No, I definitely I think it did literally mean it tasted like honeyed wine, at that moment, because Vengeance was in "control"*, and we're all aware of exactly how heinous demons are. There's no sugarcoating that, just as there's no sugarcoating that he consumed parts of those templars/wardens as he was killing them.

When all is said and done, Anders is host to a demon. Coming to terms with the truth of that is what makes his situation so terrible; what impact it has on Hawke and their relationship remains to be seen.

*"control" in quotes because I'm not so sure that there's a complete difference between their consciousnesses there (he might have struggled to extricate himself from Vengeance, perhaps by the time we meet him in Kirkwall he's succeeded to a degree) so much as their instincts.

So, anyone feels Bioware is being unfair by not posting a romance shot of Anders? I took the liberty to do something in the meantime...

I nearly spit my drink out all over my laptop. Posted Image

Also, is it wrong that I... kinda want Anders to be not-so-buff? Posted Image Or, really, hardly buff at all?

@Phate Phoenix the devs did say at one point that mages wouldn't be as buff as warriors this time around. Although mage!Hawke certainly looks like he's been pumping iron, but that could just be because of his general awesomeness.

I feel the same way. I thought Alistair was a bit too far on the beefy side, I'd like Anders to be a tad lankier.

Awesome! Now I just need Anders in glasses and he has become my dream LI. Posted Image

... Aside from the demonic possession and possible penchant for munching on holy folk, of course. Posted Image
