Ok so I want to know why several people are judging the whole Anders drinking blood thing. He is not really a cannibal it says that the blood splashed in his mouth. True it says that it tasted like Honeyed Wine but I am thinking that it didn't "literally" mean that was the way the blood tasted to him I think it was saying something more along the lines of "Revenge is Sweet." As a writer I have written many things that didnt mean exactly what they said; However, I am not perfect nor do I claim to be the best at writing. I could be wrong I did not write the story but it should be taken into consideration that no matter how terrible or violent or morbid the act, it isn't really Anders committing the act. The demon that possesses him takes over during it. It even seems that after the fact Anders didn't seem to know or realize what he had just done; hence, it is sade to assume that he wasn't in control at that point. That is why he ran to heal at the hospice to try and get a handle on things, to try and keep himself in control. Anyway, that is how I interpret the story but as true with any poem or book they are hardly ever interpreted the same. I just wanted to express my opinion and maybe give others a different view of the story.

Ok but that was not my point. That was the point I was making whether it was blood drinking or eating people, that it wasn't really him it was the spirit. But thank you for pointing out what I missed.

This is a forum, there's going to be some highly judgmental thoughts tossed around because that is the nature of forums and the Internet in general. I kinda LOL'd at some of the comments being made in the LI announcement thread. OMG I DON'T WANNA ROMANCE A PSYCHOPATH CANNIBAL RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE. And it wasn't just Anders getting flamed either. But such is their choice -- I've already made up my mind about the whole thing.

Honestly, the only companion I'm not excited about at this point is Merrill, and I think that's mostly down to lack of information. She could be interesting, but I don't know enough about her. I'm even looking forward to Isabela, who worries me, because what if she turns out to be more awesome than my Hawke? 

People can moan about how this or that LI isn't good enough, but for the most part it's just pettiness. Either go play something you will enjoy and leave us to happy fun times, or learn to accept that BW isn't actually planning on taking your specific tastes into account every time they make a game, and learn to be content with what you have.

A lot of BSN's problems would end if people did not assume things about each other based upon what character they like or do not like.

I really liked Anders in Awakening, so I'm keeping an open mind.  I remember the lead up to DA:O, and how my impressions of Alistair turned out to be very different once I played the game...his romance was much more than I had imagined, both in terms of drama and sweetness.  Zevran was also a pleasant surprise, even though it took me till my second playthrough to fully appreciate him (he kind of turned on me before the Landsmeet because I had been neglecting him...oops!).  So I will not write off any character out of hand, and I'm looking forward to trying all the romances.

I do have expectations for Anders, though...he better have the snappy banter and wit, even when possessed.  I will take Jennifer Hepler's words earlier in the thread to heart and hope he's not *just* Sturm und Drang.

I guess I'll be the only one here who is somewhat disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Anders. And when I found out he'd be a LI in DA2 I was really really really happy. But. I don't like how they've changed his face. They made him fugly. Sitting here now comparing screenies from Awakening and DA2... and.. well... meh

I do. 

I have a thought (and they don't come often, believe me). Whenever you activated a romance in Origns with two characters they both found out (pardoning bugs). All your companions travelled with you and stayed at the same camp site, etc, so that was inevitable. In DAII everyone has their own place to live in Kirkwall, right? Do you think Hawke could cheat on their romance with someone else?

I'm still inbetween Fenris and Anders. When I play the game for the first time I'll go down the Friendship route with Anders and Rivalry with Fenris. I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Since the change in art design, I actually do prefer this look to the old one.  The old one WAS very good, but I think it was much too... Alistair-y?  Now he kind of has his own identity.  And his eyes stick out to me -- not the blue glowy ones, but his regular brown eyes.  They seem soft.  Me likey.

But I can understand your disappointment.  There WAS a change.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Ellis on completely making me forget Disciple (KOTOR 2) in his voicing of Anders. (Disciple is the ONLY video game character I've ever hated enough to want dead.) Anders sounds nothing like him. And in fact, is so different, when I heard the same man voiced both, I had to go look it up on IMDB to verify.

In speaking of Mr. Ellis, he's commented on his facebook about playing the game... quite a fan response he got about Anders, he seems to be a little curious about playing the game himself now.

De-lurking to bring up something that occurred to me. There was a post a ways back questioning "what if Anders lost his memories after being de-posessed" but I can't find it now. I was just thinking...Connor didn't remember anything after being saved from his demon. So do you think it's likely that if Hawke saves Anders...he wouldn't remember her at all?

Oooh, I like. Save the man you love at the cost of him losing all his memories of you. I can imagine how bittersweet that ending would be. Reminds me of that one episode of Angel...

I think the issue with Connor was a little different since Desire had about complete control at that point. Connor's consciousness was stuck confused and scared in the Fade. Also, I wonder how much Connor DOES remember, and just chooses not to say because he's just a child and can hardly understand anything.

RinjiRenee, you are probably right. Though I would have mixed feelings about it if he did lose his memories. On the one hand, I would consider it a lot happier for Anders if he never had to remember being a monster. On the other hand, I would shed tears for losing our relationship. However, I think my Hawke might consider it a worthwhile sacrifice, to give up Anders love for her in order to save him anguish.
