Sorry to cut in! I was just wondering, in the demo, will we be able to play far enough in order to meet Anders?

I really, really don't want to have to wait about three weeks before the first glimpse of him!

From what I've heard of the demo, you play through the 'prologue' leading you up to Kirkwall, and it then skips you ahead to Isabela's quest. Whether Anders is available during the Isabela quest remains to be seen, so I'd remain on the cautious side there. ;)

Ah, looks like I'll have to wait after all then.

I'm sure I can manage... Posted Image

I, for one, hope Anders is an optional party member, like Isabela. That we can go through whole game not recruiting him, and/or not interacting with him even once. I don't have any faith in Bioware being able to "explain" how he got into Kirkwall from my imported save.

If the demo is like what was being played on the live feed then yes, during the isabella quest , Anders is available. When he went into the character screen with the characters available for your party I saw Anders standing there. :o

If you don't mind spoilers, you should check out the Game Informer First Five Hours thread.  It has information on how we meet Anders, and it appears that you must at least speak to him once to further a quest for Varric.  I don't know if it's optional, but brace yourself.

But, if you are forced to meet him, are you going to refuse to take whatever explanation he has for being in Kirkwall?  What if it's very specific to your own playthrough (why he's not dead, how he escaped the templars, etc.)?  I'd consider that good writing, if they manage to address any concerns about continuity.  Would you be okay with him then?

I'd think the demo wouldn't have Anders in it, or at the least would have him there but with restricted dialogue. I'd think skipping ahead to whenever you happen to meet Isabela would reveal too many spoilers unless they didn't let you talk to certain people.

This was a ways back, but...

Six days until the demo! 20 until the full game! Guys, if the mission later in the demo lets you have Anders in your party, how much time are you going to spend clicking on him instead of killin' dudes?

Oh man, I can't wait for the many poorly timed talks about our relationship... It's so fun having flirty conversations when you're surrounded by dead darkspawn. :P

I would really like that, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I do that too often.

Will DA2 have conversations triggered when you're traveling like that, or will it be like Awakening where they have a canned response but no convo?

I miss the former. One of my Wardens got a rose from Alistair in front of the entire Proving crowd. It was magical for them, I'm sure.

Well, Isabella did invite Lady Hawke back to her room immediately after slaughtering a roomful of people while covered in gore.

I'm sure someone finds that hot.

I don't know, I hope so. I don't know how it worked in Awakenings, but one of the few things I disliked about ME2 was how disconnected your relationships felt with the rest of the game, you couldn't talk to anyone until you were in their little section of the ship.

Plus like I said, unintentional hilarity. :D

I actually could see either Anders or my mage Hawke saying this with complete seriousness.

From what we've been told so far, iirc it's like the Awakening system except the environment objects that'd trigger occasional conversation are swapped for something else. Can't remember what.

The difference I think is Isabela isn't covered in gore because she forgot to tie on her bib.

I think I understand now, after remembering this sketch:

Anders is just an inexperienced cannibal.

Personally, I always turn off the persistent gore, so I'd forgotten how silly it looks when you try to have a conversation directly after battle until I watched the live play.

And he didn't explode into Vengeance because of templars, he was just frustrated because everyone tasted like Taint.

I turn it off too, there is blood anyway, you don't need to flipping bathe in it, lol!

I don´t quite understand why the cannibalism is "the big deal". What I understood, with my poor english skills, is that he didn´t kill those men, because he wanted to eat them, rather it was that he ate them because they died. So to me the thing to be conserned about is that he seemed to turn in to pshycophat killer (not sure if that´s fitting description) and the cannibalism is only one part of that. Really if you are already dead does it matter, if someone eats your carcass or not?

That reminded me of those various Facebook posts from Twilight fans on how they are reconsidering their stance on pedophilia, necrophilia, beastiality et cetera thanks to Edward and Jacob.

Once I got the rose during the Redcliff zombie invasion.  Nothing sets the mood like flaming zombies and dying knights.

I like how they made the Tevinter mage robe less of a robe and more of a tunic.

However it does put a damper on my mockery of SurelyForth for squeeing over a man-skirt wearing zombie.

I'm in the wrong thread for this kind of remark, aren't I.  Posted Image
