Meh, I brought up the "Behind Blue Eyes" thing. I liked Anders a lot in DAA. I think he's a good guy. I look forward to seeing what they've done with his character in the game. But he's clearly changed in DA2, and that change is interesting. His short story introduction in the V-Day announcement - clearly meant to inspire discussion - was very dark. What's so unreasonable about finding the newer darker information inherently more interesting and worthy of discussion? Is that "hating" or "trolling" or being fixated or whatever?

That's what I look forward too. In DAA he was funny and for the most part very upbeat and he had very strong opinions on the circle and how they handle mages. The joining with Justice is an interesting twist to both characters as the opinions seems to have magnified to the point of were something needs to be done about it.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

80% of his dialogue was also comic relief. Oops.

So if you're against something you have to be serious about it all the time?

Yeah I had assumed that Justice in Awakenings still had a connection to the Fade, plus at the beginning of the short story, it kinda feels like Anders is in the Fade when the "possession" occurred. I'm not sure, but I am wondering about Justice's connection to the Fade. If he's in the Fade, I think we should be able to fight or talk to it but if he's not.....?

Edit:
@Filament Thanks for explaining~:pinched:

Just woke up, so excuse me if I'm a little fuzzy, but how did you come to the conclusion that J/V is no longer connected to the Fade? We confronted Connor's demon in the fade and the sloth demon in the Tower in the fade, and I'm guessing that J/V isn't strong enough to manifest on his own like the Baroness did.

As for how he looks when he hulks out, I assume it's the blue light filling him up. It doesn't sound that scary after everything we've seen, but perhaps it was for the Warden Templar since he'd never seen it happen to Anders before. Dunno.

Well when he was forced into Kristoff's body by the Baroness, he said he couldn't simply go back to the Fade, and the only way to remove him from that body would be by killing him. But he was afraid of what would happen if he died because he himself didn't really understand the situation either.

Also the description of corpses indicates that demons only possess a corpse by accident, thinking it's a living creature, only to find themselves trapped in there, thus going insane. Seems that wouldn't happen if they could just say "whoops" and head back to the Fade.

Ah, okay, I see. The possessions we've seen so far seem to have manifestations in the Fade even while they are physically possessing living creatures, even if they can't use that connection to travel between the waking world and the Fade at will. I would imagine that J/V would also have some sort of presence there that we would be able to face at some point, but it would certainly complicate things if he is entirely unconnected with the place that birthed him, with no... 'essence' to defeat or cleanse.
I know the epilogue slides are open to interpretation, but it would be interesting to clear up the question of what happened when he left the body of Kristoff, as he does in a number of them. If he went back to the Fade once he left his host, or kind of... hung around as an incorporeal spirit before possessing Anders.

Personally, I always believed that Justice is 'stuck' in the material realm. Who knows how he could be sent back.. maybe with a magical ritual like one would do with a mage? Almost all of the epilogues for Justice involve him leaving Kristoff's body.

I wonder if he can communicate with others when he's not possessing a body? Or maybe he was just able to talk to Anders like that, due to his... mageness. Getting J/V out of Anders body seems a lot trickier than normal.

Well like I said, he might simply be reconnected to the Fade now, through Anders.

I'm pretty sure one of the achievements revealed for the game was referring specifically to Anders, so I'll base what can/might happen on that for the moment.

I don't know and won't know anything else until I play the darned game. Image IPB

So... this thread moves really, really fast. Last time I was here it was page 112! So, to save myself from having to back-read everything, has there been any new information or really gorgeous art posted? If so, relink pleaseeeeee! :)

Nope, just more cannibalism talk and a couple of reposted images, I think. Is anyone still hanging around that got a post on the first page? We could turn that into an image dump.

Hey Dave of Canada, if you come back, this right up here is called an empty quote!  It adds nothing to the discussion!:wizard:

@Tamyn, very cool.  I'm trying to draw a few of the DA2 party members, and it's hard to find decent screenshots at the moment.  Anders' outfit looks very intricate with the stitching and rags binding it together.  Fenris' outfit needs closer inspection...:bandit:

It's more like the juxtaposition of name of the poster and actual remark they'd made leaves nothing that needs to be added; these form the comment entirely on their own.

Dave did not know what I was talking about; that was a perfect example.  I know what people are attempting to convey when doing it, but if someone is going "call people out" for not adding content to a discussion, it's pretty hypocritical to do that yourself.

And really, do you need to provide "back up" here?  If either person wants to explain what they mean when empty quoting, they can do so.

And to actually be on topic, yes, I agree that Anders' dialogue in Awakening was probably 80 percent comic relief.  That was quite fine by me.  I found him enjoyable, far moreso than Oghren, for example, and since the dialogue was so very sparse in general in Awakening, I can't really fault the character for that.

I don't see how that adds nothing to the discussion. It usually implies that they agree. Now what I wrote added nothing. Image IPB

@Capt
I liked Anders as comic relief, not all characters have to be serious.

This.

Besides, I feel like we got a lot out of Anders besides comic relief and learned a lot about him.

And not to perpetuate the Anders/Alistair comparisons, wasn't 80% of everything Alistair said in Origins also pretty hilarious?  I think Alistair is an example of how near-constant comic relief can be done right while still having a believable and sympathetic character, while Oghren is an example of how it can be over-the-top.  (Although I love Oghren, so I'm certainly not trying to bash him.)

ETA: @Tamyn:  I *LOVE* that piece!  Great art of Fenris and Anders!  I get the feeling they won't like each much in the game, though... no bro poses for them.

"I agree" or "Well, duh" can be seen as contributing to discussion. Your mileage may vary.

This after you've complained mere few pages earlier in this very thread that people are trying to play moderators and how annoying it was to be told what can and what cannot be discussed? Please tell me you were aware of the irony and it's just some self-deprecating meta humour.

Does the thread really have to be ruined? Just a few days ago, it was awesome.

Interesting thing to take into consideration, if it was indeed cannibalism what we saw (debatable still imo). "Devouring corpses are held by hunger demons and feed upon the living."

Vengeance becoming a hunger demon?

It's almost like its noble spirit is being warped by petty human emotions.

edit: the vengeance/hunger thing, i'm not sure. Would rather guess it has more to do with some sort of the desire to "destroy the enemies" being taken to such literal, extreme end? They seem to be adding new kinds of demons in DA2 based on "new" emotions -- vengeance and that one in Merrill's story.

I was pointing out Lucy's post in a attempt at humor, but seriously, it's getting annoying that there is a distinct "us vs. them" vibe starting to make itself known in this thread.  One person says something, and then three other people who apparently have no interest in talking about Anders come out of nowhere to "back up" the first person, or to add to the fire.  What is the point?  If you hate the character, why not just talk about what you don't like.  If it's *just* a matter of jumping on a bandwagon, however, it's childish, and I'm not playing moderator by pointing it out now, and maybe people can either air their grievances openly or just stop it.

This forum could be really great, if people weren't so obsessed with taking sides all the time.  We all are interested in this game, and we all want to be entertained.  It shouldn't be so hard to get along.

OT: People tend to attach their egos to things.  Be they characters, particular arguments, their own predictions - none of which have any real personal connection to themselves, but are nonetheless aggressively pursued and protected as if they did.

It's not really unique to this forum, or game forums as a whole.  It's everywhere.
