Even if he isn’t a LI, which I hope he is, but if he is not, I would still like him better due to his light sardonic side.

At this point (and I know nothing has been confirmed), it just seems unlikely that he isn't a love interest. He is just . . .
way too pretty not to be.

I just had a spark of imagination. Say, if Anders died, he could be possessed by Justice from Awakening (Which we are assuming, correct?) and if he survived, he could still have become possessed by Justice. So the only thing the game will have to expand upon is which one. In the case of him dying in Awakening, in DAII you may end up having to free him from the spirit, but it will kill him

I haven't played much Awakening and haven't seen this Justice ever. Will have to fix that this week.

Edit to your edit: Heh, he could like you better, but too many people take it as self-explanatory that companions would love them unconditionally.

I think you’ll like him. He was a fantastic character, so it isn’t that I don’t like Justice, because I do. He was a melancholy spirit who was torn between the real world and the Fade. I thought he was badass, too.

I just, you know.. have a thing for sarcastic and witty male mages named Anders. Even if he isn’t a LI, which I hope he is, but if he is not, I would still like him better due to his light sardonic side.

Well hopefully there is LI for him, but not easy one. Not every woman would be able to seduce Anders. I would prefer the LI go in a way that the player can persuade Anders to chose between Justice and her, if needed. There should be also some hidden "turn-offs" which could make it impossible to try seduce him.

Oh definitely. But I suspect that before the advent of Justice Anders didn't know there was any other kind of relationship.

Meh, as long as he doesn’t play too hard to get. I don’t have patience. I will just move on to greener pastures.

Let's not forget that Anders came from a culture (the Circle) which didn't exactly encourage long term romantic relationships (based on "true love") between the mages.  So yeah, I would agree that he probably didn't think too deeply about having more than casual relationships with people.  Even after escaping from the tower, he would have had more pressing concerns (like survival and not being caught) than making any kind of deep, emotional connection with someone.

Not saying he couldn't change (although of course, saying he *should* change is kind of a value judgment IMO), just saying it makes perfect sense why he was the way he was.

Could be. I need to play that Awekening, it seems there is interesting stuff.

Batman is not some Hollywood hero, unless all you watch is the movies. Please don't use the word lame for something that has a vast following in comics and is even studied at universities as a character with great examples for psychologic dual personalities.

Please be respectful and do not insult something just because YOU don't like it.

Now back on topic about Anders.

Alright, this is the only time I'll derail but:

They have a right to call it lame. Insulting the series is not the same thing as insulting the fans. People stringently analyze the X-Men, or Star Wars, or any other fandom with a large enough following--yes, even in universities. That's not a carte blanche for awesome.

A very good point.
My (soon to be) F!MageHawke has no such upbringing, however . . .

This and if you are a "fugitive" or whatever is the correct word replacement for apostate your first priority might not be to raise a family and start a shop.

Based on the dialogue beteen Anders and Justice in Awakening (http://dragonage.wik...ers_and_Justice), it seems Bioware had this planned a long time ago. The diabolical bastardos! They're doing the same thing that they did with Garrus. They're taking a character I already liked, and they're throwing him into a special plot grinder, and producing a cooler, more badass version of said character! Only in this case, they're doing it with two characters at once!

Kudos, Bioware. Kudos.

I was very amazed to see the outburst he made especially when he said it after I expressed my unability to see anything similar between Batman and Anders. Batman is general purpose government blessed hero. Anders can be too though, not saying that, but Anders also have personal agenda of his own and he is not blessed by government. That's a very big difference. Also Anders is a rebel doing an uprising. What is Batman? Lol.

Well, I would not judge Anders so quicly. Remember the story goes he was healing poor in the slums. I would rather say Justice made Anders aware of certain things he did not bother to think before.

I myself find it very interesting to see what is the relationship with Justice and Anders in Awakening and what it is in DA2.

Justice and Anders in Awakenings start off hating each other pretty cordially, but by the end it's actually quite sweet. You can definitely see how the whole "I'll let you in my body thing" happens.

I highly doubt Anders intended to corrupt Justice. He may not possess the wisdom of the ages but for the most part, his motives were generally benevolent (at times, altruistic), or at least, benign.

Batman is the dark knight, avenger of the wronged. I. Just. Don't know where to start with that. Nobody should need Batman explained. O.o

his anger at the Circle of Magi has corrupted Justice into the Spirit of Vengeance

Is this the first indication we've had that spirits can alter their natures? I thought the line was that, though constantly altering their forms and the forms of the half-real world they inhabit, they are unable to ever truly create or change, and that this is why they hunger to vicariously experience all the dynamism of human experience.

In any case, I'm very pleased that I've learned this spoiler right before my first Awakening playthrough--I'll be sure to have A & J in the same party a lot.

If Justice was to be in any of the DAO/DAOA companions, Anders is the best pick. As Miri said, they did not like each other at first but as the game goes on they start to befriend each other and have a good friendship.

Dammit, now I can't wait for DA2!
