Is this the first indication we've had that spirits can alter their natures? I thought the line was that, though constantly altering their forms and the forms of the half-real world they inhabit, they are unable to ever truly create or change, and that this is why they hunger to vicariously experience all the dynamism of human experience.

In any case, I'm very pleased that I've learned this spoiler right before my first Awakening playthrough--I'll be sure to have A & J in the same party a lot.

That spoiler will help me to bother finish Awakening. So big time thanks for it.

No, Justice explains it a bit in Awakening and there might be more notes in Origins too but I can't remember. :?

It seems like spirits of the fade embody only ONE purpose/emotion/etc. Justice himself says he does not have a name, only a virtue that he aspires to and that is what you call him. Mages, as people, have a variety of feelings, values, and emotions. Perhaps this is why they cannot coexist together well even if a spirit has good intentions as its one driving emotion will overcome the mage's personality. Wynne herself says that a if a mage truly remembers who they are and retains their humanity that they are not an abomination; and perhaps a strong personality remembering who they are is what permits Wynne and Anders to a degree to stay human.

I highly doubt Anders intended to corrupt Justice. He may not possess the wisdom of the ages but for the most part, his motives were generally benevolent (at times, altruistic), or at least, benign.

To me Anders looked like a harmless guy in Awakening. Just pissed me I could not say to him and Oghren "now you F*s stop that needle pinching each other".

No, that makes perfect sense that anger corrupts justice to vengeance. It is like an equation.

Edit: And it will be naturally very interesting to see who is corrupting what in DA2. I would say vengeance would corrupt Anders, and it seems to do so as the dev described anders is in constant inner struggle or something with vengeance. Demons can be nasty stuff lol.

Actually, if I recall correctly it was the Warden who reassured Wynne of that (without knowing the full story yet).  Wynne was actually insecure about it.

Ok, I am super happy to know Anders is officially a companion.....but....

What is up with "He has changed..." and Justice is a demon now?

What happened? I'm so confused and I need to play this game like now.

Did he loose his sense of humor? Is he all moody now? Poor Anders, the whole physical and spiritual struggle doesn't sound like we will have anybody throwing witty-funny remarks. I hope there's a way to exorcise Justice. Ughhh

Anders just became the most interesting party member so far in the game. Wicked.

Everything in fade are spirits. It is just that those spirits what are considered to represent negative feelings are called demons.

Let's not assume Anders changed entirely for the worse.  He seems to have more of a sense of purpose now--in Awakening, his attitude was "Now that I'm free, I don't have to worry about the other mages who aren't free."  It was actually Justice who told him he should actually do something to help them.

I could not agree more, even though I haven't finished Awakening.

Edit: + it seems it is not like Anders would had changed. It is that he lives in some kind of relationship with the spirit. They shape each other. I would however say Desire demon is behind all that xD meaning Anders never shaped Justice to Vengeance. That would however suppose desire demon would want to do see destruction. But if demons represent emotions, then what emotion is "justice?"

Edit: Well lol that begins to go too complicated, the current story is better. Justice shaped Anders and then Anders shaped Justice to Vengeance.

I seriously doubt that he has mood changes after every sentence.
Anders: "Hi Hawke, how's it going?"
Hawke: "Fine, and you?"
Anders: "DONT YOU DARE ASKING ME HOW IM DOING! Now ser-pounce-alot, would you kindly go ****** in Fenris drawers."

Y'know, this reminds me alot of tales of the monkey island.

M. Night Shyamalan would be proud. What a twist!

Two of my favourite party members rolled into one, this is gonna be interesting!

Now that there's Awakening characters in DAII, when can I expect my Masked Avenger Disciple party member?

ive been thinking what if somewhere down the line the corruption gets way to much for one body to handle and you have a choice to bring either justice back to normal or anders? Sorta like choosing weather anders gets his body back or does justice get a new 1.

Forum-goers don't represent everyone, but the impression I got was that most people are at least intrigued (although, there are some who are upset/worried and I don't mean to discount them, either).

Well, who wants to give a body to Vengeance? Spirits don't own bodies. Their place is in fade. Anders owns his own body.

Wow, very cool and all... but not so cool as well.

Great that the two are back, and I always thought "what would it be like if Justice stuck around too long and started to give into his zeal a bit more... demon?" Answer: Demon. Kind of hinting at it in the early discussions, but didn't think he'd stick around long enough.

Also, a mage who doesn't like the role of the Circle and its excuse being to avoid abominations and dangerous mages, and behold, he becomes exactly what the Circle tries to prevent. By fighting the Circle/Chantry, he becomes the reason for their current structure. Funny.

Anyway, this is certainly going to cause some friction with my pro-Circle mage... sounds fun.

Edit: I wonder how much of Awakening transfers over into Anders of Vengeance.

The first fact of game development is there is nothing you can change without causing an uproar somewhere. It is like opinions. Every opinion will offend someone.

But if you are a slave it is justified to fight for freedom. So your casuality order is not in working order. No slavery no need to fight for freedom.

On the other note I have understood Anders never took Justice to fight for freedom. So your casuality order is even more not in right order. But I can be wrong in that in case Anders took Justice to help fight for freedom.

Yay

Anders, the light-hearted rebel mage from Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening, has changed. Urged by his friend Justice to fight the Circle of Magi more actively, Anders agreed to become Justice's human host… only to find that his anger at the Circle warped Justice into the demonic spirit of Vengeance. Now Anders must struggle mentally and physically to maintain his control over the demon within... at least long enough to see the Circle of Magi overturned forever.

Annnd now I think I'll hate him more than ever.

I was thinking the same thing! Well, the "fun" part, anyway.

The truth is that all this is (conceivably) going to do is take my mage F!Hawke and turn make her even more fanatically anti-Chantry, anti-templar, and anti-Circle. Like, probably violently so.

Oh dear. :o

Heck, it's going to cause friction with my anti-Circle mage, just because the hypocrisy of his situation sabotages her own arguments that the mages are responsible enough to govern themselves. It seems like every mage that gets freedom turns into an abomination these days. :?
