Annnd now I think I'll hate him more than ever.Anders, the light-hearted rebel mage from Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening, has changed. Urged by his friend Justice to fight the Circle of Magi more actively, Anders agreed to become Justice's human host… only to find that his anger at the Circle warped Justice into the demonic spirit of Vengeance. Now Anders must struggle mentally and physically to maintain his control over the demon within... at least long enough to see the Circle of Magi overturned forever.
I like it. It's called shifting the Overton Window.

Heck, it's going to cause friction with my anti-Circle mage, just because the hypocrisy of his situation sabotages her own arguments that the mages are responsible enough to govern themselves.

Anyway, this is certainly going to cause some friction with my pro-Circle mage... sounds fun.
.
The truth is that all this is (conceivably) going to do is take my mage F!Hawke and turn make her even more fanatically anti-Chantry, anti-templar, and anti-Circle. Like, probably violently so.
I think it's great that just a simple reveal of a new character prompts three entirely different takes on the situation from three different Hawkes.
So cool.

I certainly hope so. If Anders is stuck this way or dies from this, I will be very, very unhappy.Uhh.. Jonah wrote...
Is there anyway to get the spirit out of him without killing him?

Maybe if we supply the writing team with enough of our non-Anders-death related tears they will be merciful.

Should be possible in the same way as was with Connor. Also in theory the spirit could let it go willingly, but it appears to be possible mainly in theory since some codex says that at least desire demons wont give anything for free.
Edit: It would make sense for Justice spirit to let it go, but vengeance demon, heh, why would it let it go?

I used Anders all the time because he was funny and Ser Pounce A Lot could be used to heal companions instead of poultices.Wissenschaft wrote...
LOL, demon possessed Anders obsessed with destroying the chantry. Oh, chantry haters are going to love this guy.
Now that he is hell bent on destroying the Circle of Magi I love that bastard even more.
Will he still be a blood mage if you made him a blood mage in Awakenings? It would suck if you had to make him a blood mage all over again. How would it be explained lore wise that someone stops being a blood mage?

Meet Anders. Some of you may remember Anders from Dragon Age: Origins Awakening, but this mage has changed. Now bonded with the Spirit of Justice, his anger at the Circle of Magi has corrupted Justice into the Spirit of Vengeance. Everyday is now a struggle to contain the spirit within, and everyday it becomes harder to control.
This is not the Anders you remember.
You can learn more about Anders and view screenshots HERE
I'm sure someone must have mentioned this, but I'm seeing the foreshadowing all over the place as I'm replaying Awakening. This in particular:
- Anders: Are you saying that you could become a demon, Justice?
- Justice: I said no such thing.
- Anders: You said that demons were spirits perverted by their desires.
- Justice: I have no such desires.
- Anders: You must have some desires...
- Justice: I have none! Desist your questions
- Anders: I apologize, Justice. I didn't mean to suggest you would become a demon.
- Justice: I should certainly hope not.
- Anders: I just wondered what relation there is between spirits and demons. Demons are a worry to any mage.
- Justice: I do not know what makes demons as they are. Such evil angers me, but I do not understand it.
- Anders: Well, I hope you never come to understand.
- Justice: I as well, mage. More than you could possibly know.

This kind of worries me though. We knew about him for about a day or two, and he gets an official confirmation. We still haven't got one for Merrill.

I wonder if it'll be dependent on your import. If you import a game where he died - he may well die when Justice is removed from him. If you imported one where he didn't, he might survive. And I suspect Anders doesn't want to get rid of Vengeance - I think he wants to turn him back into Justice. I hope that's possible, and that we can then separate the two (or leave them together a la Wynne).
Surely they wouldn't assume everyone who's going to play DA2 had the Awakening expansion pack. I mean it wouldn't be fair if you had neither Origins or, in particular, Awakening and had to lose him as a party member like that...

Problem, is that what Justice urging Anders to fight the circle/templars originally probably was a just cause but Ander's feelings involved in said just cause probably corrupted Justice.Kyda wrote...
Oh dear... I mean: Justice? And now he´s a demon?... so easily changed?... And now it is Anders who has to fight the demon inside?... this seems like a LOT to digest... I am unsure of what to think, probably will only make up my mind once I get to play the game.
Vengeance and Justice are pretty much the same thing to an extent with Vengeance being more tied to emotions and can lead to things being taken too far and lead to other crimes being done.
